I was tagged Lara @ The Heathen. Be sure to stop by and check out her fantastic blog if you have not already done so! This looks like a fun one, so thank you Lara.
*If I have missed any tags, I apologize. My pingback seems to be broken 😦

A Character Appearance You Misread or Imagined Differently

First of all, let’s be honest. I don’t misread. Clearly film and television fail to provide an appropriate depiction when this happens.  But I will go with the Vampire Armand here.

Interview With A Vampire 1994

I love The Vampire Chronicles! Huge Anne Rice fan and will not hide it. Her writing is beautiful and the character and world building is insane! I loved Interview With a Vampire and feel like the cast did a superb job on the film adaptation. I am in no way shape or form complaining about Antonio’s performance. It was one of the few I greatly appreciated. But I had Armand envisioned as a much younger and softer character while reading the books. So yeah, the director and casting got it wrong 😉 But it worked. So I forgive them.

A Character Name That You’ve Been Pronouncing Wrong?

Oh too many! I am not sure why authors feel compelled to pull these ridiculous names out of thin air. I do not need to spend 10 minutes on the first page deciding how to pronounce the protagonist’s name..shees! Giving this one to Mr. George R.R. Martin and about 80% of the characters in Song of Ice and Fire. I am looking at you Daenerys Targaryen.

An Overused Trope That Is Your Guilty Pleasure?

The tortured and deprived heroine is my favourite. Guilty as charged. Slap the cuffs on me and take me away! I mean come on, dystopian reads are my favourite. Katniss Everdeen is my girl crush ❤

A Cliché Character That You Like Better On Screen Than Reading About?

I may lose some followers with this one, but pretty much the entire cast of Stardust. The good man knows I love me some Neil Gaiman. He is a genius! I would probably toss it all and run away with him if asked, but I struggled with Stardust a bit in book form. I felt that the cast chosen for the film really provided more life to the eccentric characters and I loved it! Hate if you must.

A Word Or Phrase That You Learned Because of It’s Use In Books?

“Second Breakfast”! Best thing ever, most important meal of the day, and I owe it all to Bilbo Baggins.

Have You Ever Read/Not Completed A Required Reading Book For School?

No. Straight and honest answer is absolutely not. It is nearly impossible for me to DNF no matter how bad (I am a gal full of hope) and I do not flake on responsibilities. I am wound too tight for that. Yeah, I know.. loosen up a bit.

How You Ever Skipped (Or Wanted To) A Chapter From The Point Of View Of A Character You Weren’t Interested In?

Too many times. I cannot stand reading through the dribble of horrible characters.  I am not sure if manga would count here, but I fought not to allow myself to skim through sections of Death Note focusing on Misa Amane. Sorry hated her, loved the series.

Yes I mean it. Most annoying character.. *shudder*.

Have You Ever Cancelled Social Plans To Read A Book?

Of course I have silly! I mean people versus books and fictional characters. Is that even a serious question?

I am leaving this up as an open tag. I enjoyed this one! Feel free to jump in and participate. I would love to see your answers. Happy Thursday!

Cheers 🙂

  1. Oh gawd, Interview with the Vampire is one of my favourite movies AND books! I remember the fuss about Tom Cruise being cast as LeStat but fudge me, he did an amazing job at portraying him! I saw the movie before I read the book, so I can’t say much about Antonio playing Armand :D. That GoT meme :’). Loved your answers as usual! I’m so jealous of Amanda Palmer giving birth to Neil Gaiman’s baby btw…And great to see another person who’s unable to DNF!

  2. This sounds like something I would get for my daughter. She loves these collections of foklore/poetry, last year I bought her the restored Grimms that Princeton University Printed, so this might be an idea for this year.
