Sunday Sum-Up

sunday

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer that I am linking my Sunday Sum-Ups with. Stop by and say hello!

Well, it is actually snowing again. I think this is our third “episode” here in Portland. Odd really. Of course that means 3 things: Everyone needs to buy milk and bread to make milk sammiches, they have all suddenly forgotten how to drive, and I am staying in to enjoy a book and some tea. I win!

My current reads are going to take a little longer than average, so you may notice fewer reviews this coming week. This is due to no lack of interest, but the complete opposite. I am choosing to read some “heavier” titles through 2017. I simply miss the epic fantasy and horror I have always loved. You can still expect to see some YA and I have not forsaken fairytales. I plan on trying to add more diversity, but I want to get back in touch with what originally made me passionate about reading. So expect some longer wait times 😉

new-other-happenings

There really haven’t been many “happenings” in terms of blogging. I did update the site, and I am grateful for all of the positive feedback. The teapot stays by popular demand.

I have had several things occurring in real life. Many of you are no strangers to my “health” issues. Recently the vertigo has become very sporadic, and as much as I love surprise trips (and there have been a few), it has required some big decisions and changes. I am no longer driving. So as you imagine this complicates things a bit and is an adjustment.

Personal life is also another reason it may have felt like the blog slowed down a touch. I have been struggling to maintain the proper headspace and allow myself to accept things in a healthy manner. I am, but it takes time. I am only in my 30s, so it is not easy to acknowledge that I cannot do certain things. I am a stubborn ginger.. the worst kind ❤ But I am trying to focus on what I can do. I just tend to close up a little while sorting it all out. I am sure many of you can relate. And I am effing crazy..

crazy

But enough of theramblings and rantings. Onward and upward. I plan to have another Pairing Teas & Reads soon, as well as some other possible posts (that latter part is a complete lie, I have no idea what else to post at the moment). If you have ideas or suggestions, I am always available and love to hear them. In the meantime, stay well, stay warm, stay true!

Cheers,

Danielle ❤

  1. Yay the teapot stays :-), that’s good news. Not so good news is the fact that you won’t drive your car.. I can imagine it’s not that easy to deal with but it’s better than risking accidents so you’ve made a wise decision! It’s good of you to focus on the positives ❤. I hate snow, thank god you can stay in with a good book and some tea!

    1. I actually love snow, but that is because I am completely fine with being stuck inside watching it from a window. So beautiful ❤

The driving bit is a tough pill, but you are so right. I was having to pull over to and from work and having unexpected episodes with no warning. A danger to me and others. My daughter will be driving soon though haha. I can give her the car and make her chauffeur me 😉

  2. Ha ha I live in Michigan in the snow belt and half the people *here* forget how to drive in the snow. And it’s a white mess over here. 🙂 Love that GIF- awesome!

Looks like Bird Box was pretty good. I’ll be going over to check your review. It will be fun to see what epic fantasy you come up with and review.

I’ve had vertigo before and it sucks. I’ve had it where I’ve just about shut down because I couldn’t do anything (the world spinning can be kinda inconvenient!) so I hear ya. Best of luck with it and hope everything goes well. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Greg! Sill how they all forget how to drive haha. I hope you consider giving Bird Box a read if you find yourself in the mood for something more dystopian based. It was great! Sorry I am still unable to comment on your posts 😦 But I am enjoying them greatly!

      1. I’m sorry you still can’t comment- I feel like my blog is not very welcoming for that reason lol. Wish I could figure out the issue- probably some stupid Blogger thing. Still i appreciate you coming by. :):)

    1. I am not sure what day I will have it up. I wore myself out this weekend trying to tackle his room and move stuff. Limits were hit. But I am working on it. I think it will be about twice a month when I can get it all straight. ❤ And I know you are crazy.. great minds!

  3. Aww my love!!! I hope everything all sorts out. Sending you tons of love.
Literally LOLed with the milk and bread sandwiches! Cause I swear once it snows here in NYC, people act like it’s the end of the world and it’s just crazy and hectic out here. But I guess it’s like that everywhere lol.
Don’t pressure yourself on posting, we are still here at the end of the day loving you lol xoxo ❤

  4. Health before blogging Skeletor Sloth!😂😀

Yay, the teapot stays, can’t have tea without a teapot!😀

Yay, for changes, I got rid of Dragon’s and changed to Wolves, only change I’m doing, I like my dark theme to much.

High praise for hefty books and epic fantasy!!!!!😀

    1. Thank you Drew! Your theme is very fitting. Would not have it any other way!

I am starting a new fantasy read tonight.. so we will see how it goes 😉 I believe GR tells me you rated it well, so that is promising. The Lies of Locke Lamora.

I am ok with Skeletor.. but maybe drop the sloth bit haha 😉

                  1. Can’t be too hard on Lynch, he suffers from depression and I know that was why there’s gaps between the second and third books. It’s been a few years since the third though and the fourth still hasn’t been released, supposed to have been last year but the latest is it isn’t finished yet.

                  2. Well that definitely puts it into a better perspective. I certainly will not penalize anyone who struggles with any sort of challenge or illness. That would be pretty hypocritical huh.. I can honestly say I know next to nothing of the author and stumbled upon this on GR. So thanks Drew 🙂 It certainly makes the wait acceptable.

                  3. No worries, yeah, you have a point about any sort of illness and depression/being unhappy is a bane of many to, there’s a reason most of my poetry is dark!😂

Sorry if I came across as a know-it-all when I wrote the author had depression, that wasn’t my intention.

                  4. You did not come across in that manner at all. I am always comfortable with our discussions. I was appreciative to learn more about a newly discovered author and can relate so well. I don’t talk about my depression and anxiety, I always focus on the physical aspects of my illness, but they are there hiding underneath. I have went through major losses and life changes so it has affected my deeply as far as mental health. I have always held you in high regards for being able to express your emotions so poetically.

Ok.. now I am getty sentimental haha. I will leave it at that 😉

  5. I’m sorry to hear you won’t be able to drive Danielle. Sending you hugs from Ohio:) I’m inspired by your positivity in this tough time and hope you find some excellent reads to share with us. I’m glad you’re getting back to reading what you missed. Take Care of yourself and I’m sure you’re daughter will make a great chauffeur.

  6. Sorry to hear about your health. I do hope things get better and I can totally relate to you shutting down to sort things out. I do the same when having to tackle hard personal stuff too.

    1. Thank you 🙂 Sometimes we just need “us” time to get it sorted. A lot of people in my life tend to mistake this as me being standoffish or depressed, but I am just reflecting and figuring it out. We all go through hurdles. I am aware it could be worse. Besides, you are all so supportive and I can still do what I enjoy the most – read and write 🙂

  7. I’m sorry to hear about your health. I hope the vertigo eases up very soon! I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it must make things. Still, you seem to be maintaining a positive outlook ❤

Ever so slightly jealous of the snow! It's always good to stay warm with some tea and a good book! 🙂

          1. I can’t blame you really, though…very occasionally I have to get up at 4am for a breakfast shift and that’s enough to break my spirit, never mind waking up even earlier and doing it permanently 😛

  8. I hope you start to feel better and I’m really sorry about the car! People in the snow are horrible!! No one knows what to do on the road, like it’s never happened before and you’re cracking me up with the milk and sammiches! I hope you have a better week this week!

  10. Had a good LOL @ your ‘I win!’ comment… I just thought- damn right you win! 😀
What the hell are milk sandwiches or is this just a dig? 😀

Sorry to hear about your vertigo… here’s a whole truckload of warm hugs to you! Not that it helps you but showing love anyway! 🙂

I’m also excited for your reading plans… I have no problem waiting for your usually fantastic reviews from you as youll be reading some seriously good stuff! 😉

Stay warm and stay safe! ❤

    1. Thank you Liz 💕 I will take all of the hugs I can steal haha. The support means tons to me!

Yeah, the milk sammiches was a dig. People always buy all of the milk and bread 😉

I just started The Lies of Locke Lamor. Good so far.. but a longer one than more reads of late. I still have plenty of review copies I have to squeeze in as well though 😉

  11. From a fellow stubborn ginger to another : ❤ lots of love and tea ❤ and most importantly HUGS!!! I haven't been driving, mainly because of eyes issues, so I totally understand the feeling 😦 I miss driving around so much and I am a terrible passenger, hahaha! I keep giving advice .. nah let's be honest they're more orders than advice! I'm pretty sure soon no one will want to drive me anywhere! We haven't had snow yet. I don't want it to come because it means being stuck in the countryside and not being able to go to my appointments. I enjoy the white coat of Earth… 24h top and then I get mad!

    1. I agree about the snow.. pretty for a bit then be gone!!! Gingers unite ❤

I am also a terrible "back seat" driver haha. I am pretty sure the nonhusband is thinking of ways to hide the body every time he takes me out. I to give lots of "orders". Although I kindly remind him it is just helpful advice 😉 He says.. "Because I need advice from the woman who can't see or walk straight on how to drive?" hehe..

      Big hugs back atcha ❤

  12. I commend you for knowing what you can and cannot do. I rarely drive outside of my 3-mile comfort zone, due to panic attacks. We have had a few minor snowfalls but not enough to warrant a bread run..lol Have a wonderful week!

  13. How the fudge cake did I miss this post?! That’s what you get for posting before me on Sunday. Heh heh. Viva la teapot! I stock up on coffee and Nutella for blizzards. Yes to getting back to your original reading passion. A lot of bloggers are going heavier this year. I will be looking forward to what you decide to pick up! Have a wonderful last half of the week. Happy hump day. Ha ha. 😀

  14. We just had our first snow of the year and people can’t drive and also ran out to buy supplies for milk sammiches (which I still don’t understand and had no idea that this happened in other places too). Posting can be difficult when you have health and other personal issues. Hope things start looking up for you! ❤

    1. Things are always up.. or sideways..or down haha. That is the fun of constant vertigo 😉 Just kidding. We have to make like right? I appreciate it a lot.

Yes, I moved across the country and milk sammiches and poor driving seem to be a common occurrence with snow. Odd phenomenon really..

We ended up with a foot! That is a lot here. I hope you are staying warm 🙂

Thank you for some feedback on the blog design. It has taken me a bit, but growing on my now. So I am glad it seems to be working for others. Of course I do not have such talented layouts and graphics 😉
