Sunday Sum-Up

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer that I am linking my Sunday Sum-Ups with. Stop by and say hello!

I have composed this post several times and find myself deleting it over and over. My heart keeps pulling me back into a discussion of recent events and how frightened and heavy I feel right now. How a lot of us must feel. But even during the bad we absolutely must uphold the good. So today I want to just allow myself some rest and reach for my cup of positivity. It is okay, even in the midst of all that is occurring to take a moment and remind ourselves that we must stop and appreciate the small moments. We simply must. So I  leave this  right here for you all ❤

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
‘Til the landslide brought it down
Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin’ ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Nothing new since last Sunday. I am currently waiting for my equipment and laptop to arrive so that I can begin my transition into working from home. My kids were treated for their tremendous efforts and accomplishments this semester (sometimes you just have to). I also managed to score my own little haul as well. It is not often I am able to actually spend time out with friends, so I relished in a much-needed girl’s day 😉

Keeping everything on the lighter side today. I hope you are all well and finding time to savor the moments in your own way. May your week ahead be full of comfort and enjoyment!

Danielle ❤

  1. Love Landslide (and Fleetwood MAc in general). I did succumb to mentioning politics in my post, although TBH it almost seems to me to be beyond politics now. The guy seems truly dangerous. But there are people who disagree and I’m trying to understand that. Anyway… thanks for reminding it’s the little things and we have to take our moments when can. Looks like a good haul- and glad you liked Locke Lamora.

    1. Thank you so much Greg! Definitely not knocking anyone else for the need to post politics. You are right. It is happening and has surpassed being more than a hot topic. It is now terrifying, heartbreaking and dangerous. I just have to force myself to take steps back and breathe. So I usually tend to keep most of it off of my social platforms. Mention away sir, mention away 😉 People need to be aware.

      1. I hope my comment didn’t come off as snarky, because I didn’t intend it to. My part about “trying to understand” was about Trump supporters lol. I usually try to avoid too because not everyone is going to agree and why mix books and politics right?? I just re- read my comment and thought it might read different than I meant it. 😦

Music is a great way to get away lol. Now you’ve got me thinking about Fleetwood Mac. 🙂

        1. I found absolutely nothing snarky about your comment! In fact, if my comment implied your comment was snarky, then I am sorry 😛 So there, I think we may be even. I knew exactly what you were saying. Same page my friend 🙂

  2. You got some awesome books there and there are a few Fleetwood Mac songs I turn to on some of the odd days to break the roaring metal a bit 😉
And yes- absolutely, no matter how much the sh*t hits the fan, there always must be moments to take care of one’s soul and fill it with a boost of positivity, optimism and hope! ❤

  3. It has indeed been a frightening week. The things I’ve seen on the news and read in the papers have been unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Thank you for reminding us that there is still good in the world, even in the small moments. We’ll fight to preserve it ❤

Pleased you had a good time with your friends! Have a lovely upcoming week ❤

  4. I can definitely agree with you about the heaviness of everything lately. But I think being a bookish community is very comforting in that it’s not only a fun escape, but books help us discover all sorts sorts of people, situations, and worlds and teach us to empathize and fight for good. It’s always nice to come on here and read blogs like yours and enjoy these things together!

  5. So glad you got out for your girls day Danielle. We all need that every now and then. I agree, we need to focus on positivity and appreciate the small things. I’m so grateful for reading and all the wonderful new friends I’m ‘meeting’ in the blogging community

  6. This song ❤ You are so right, we need to enjoy and appreciate those quiet and happy moments because they are getting harder to catch on the path the world is currently on. Sending you happy raindrops from Bordeaux and all the warmth I can gather ❤
Shadow Linger has such a weird cover!! I think it's trying to compete with my The Demolition Man one.
I can't wait for you to get settled to work from home, it's gonna be such a relief 🙂 ❤

    1. Thank you so much! You are my favorite waffle lover ❤ I am so lucky to have you.

If we continue reading these older titles.. we will have to have a weekly competition for ugliest cover haha 😉

Work transition this week or next. They custom order the laptop since it has to be extra secure. Just waiting!

I am going to message you in a few on twitter about that missing package 🙂

    1. Oh Lilly.. first yes listen to Fleetwood Mac or even just Stevie Nicks. She is amazing.

Secondly, your review of Locke is something I absolutely cannot wait for. You are in for a treat when you do get to read it ❤ I hope your commutes have not been too bad.

  8. Landslide is one of my all-time favorite songs. I swear between growing up on Fleetwood Mac (thanks to my parents) and then the Dixie Chicks version I can never get enough of that song. I completely agree with you about trying to focus on those little positive moments amongst everything bad that has been happening. I hope you have a fantastic week this week full of great reads, Danielle!! 💕

  9. It definitely is a tough time. Glad to see that you’re keeping that optimism up and running in you! Excellent music choice too. 🙂 I’m also really jealous of that book haul! Oh maaaan, you seem to be on route to read some really amazing books (I haven’t read neither of those two books–even if they’re on my TBR–but I know they’re HIGHLY praised!). Happy reading! 😉
