Sunday Sum~Up

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer that I am linking my Sunday Sum-Ups with. Stop by and say hello!

I had another slow week and was pretty absent online. I continue to find myself limited to less screen time and work consuming 90% of that. As I try to find a healthy balance, it appears that my blog visits will be limited to once or twice a week. I am excited to make the rounds after posting this, as I know I have missed a lot! This may very well be my briefest recap of the year, but I am double posting today with a giveaway and review of Wink Poppy Midnight. So no complaints 🙂

creadsI shifted directions this week in order to accommodate an upcoming release that I am very excited about. My current ARC read is:

One Dark Throne (Three Dark Crowns #2)
By Kendare Blake

The battle for the Crown has begun, but which of the three sisters will prevail?

With the unforgettable events of the Quickening behind them and the Ascension Year underway, all bets are off. Katharine, once the weak and feeble sister, is stronger than ever before. Arsinoe, after discovering the truth about her powers, must figure out how to make her secret talent work in her favor without anyone finding out. And Mirabella, once thought to be the strongest sister of all and the certain Queen Crowned, faces attacks like never before—ones that put those around her in danger she can’t seem to prevent.

In this enthralling sequel to Kendare Blake’s New York Times bestselling Three Dark Crowns, Fennbirn’s deadliest queens must face the one thing standing in their way of the crown: each other

  • On Monday I shared an excerpt of The Dark Mermaid. This one is heavy on my radar!
  • Today I featured a review of Wink Poppy Midnight that includes a giveaway open internationally to all the Book Depository delivers to. The giveaway will run until 9/24/17.

After an odd week that felt long in real life and short in the blogging community, I am happy to settle in to a mellow Sunday with a nice cuppa and several good books. What are you reading this weekend?

  1. Anne’s right. It was a pretty slow week, blogging-wise. And pretty quiet for me overall! I have space on my mind right now- I just finished Ray Bradbury’s The Illustrated Man, and am now back into Una McCormack’s Enigma Tales, a Star Trek novel.

    Have a great week!

  2. This week did feel hella slow in the blogosphere, think everyone is in someway feeling this hurricane in one way or another tbh. I’m hoping to get back to my usual flow this week 🤞🏼I really need to read Three Dark Crowns & see what the hype is all about, I hope you enjoy the sequel 💙On my way to check out your Wink Poppy Midnight review 💃🏽

    1. The sequel was amazing! We will chat about it when you have time 😉

Yeah, I know what you mean. Mother Nature has had me silently on the edge of my seat. Wildfire everywhere here and the hurricanes where we have friends and family. It has just been hard to focus lately ❤

  3. Oooo… I will be running right over to see what you thought about Wink, Poppy, Midnight. The book sounded intriguing, but the reviews seemed to be in the extremes. Ha ha. I am still waiting on a good ebook special for it.

I am trying to get Alexandra Bracken’s Middle Grade finished. The last 30% has been pretty interesting, so that shouldn’t be difficult.

I hope you were able to get some good reading done today. Have a wonderful week. 😀

    1. Thanks La La! I am terrible for exploring middle grade titles enough, so it is great to have that exposure through your reviews. I am hoping to work on that some in the future. I read a bit, but not as much as I would have liked 😉 Hope you had a nice weekend and that toe is better!

  4. I didn’t get the chance to blog hop much this weekend because we had a jam packed weekend. I also found myself attached to my phone watching coverage of the hurricane as I have many friends and family in Florida that were not able to evacuate. Thankfully they are all safe!

I’m planning on checking out your review for Wink Poppy Midnight (and giveaway of course) & Spindle Fire!

    1. I was glued to hurricane updates as well. We also have family and friends in the area. It was stressful. I am happy to hear all were ok on your end 🙂

I am only able to hop about once a week right now with the screen time reductions, so don’t worry about it. I totally get it ❤

  5. I hope you managed to enjoy a nice and mellow Sunday! Have you been drinking any interesting teas lately? I found some lavender tea in my cupboard today and remembered that I bought it based on your recommendation! I was drinking it at night but have been favouring vanilla chai recently. I need to get back to it!
I began ‘I Call Myself A Feminist’ this weekend. I found it atop a massive pile of books in this really cool secondhand bookstore. It was like a labyrinth, the piles and shelves of books seeming to form the walls of a maze!
    Have a great week ❤

    1. It has been an off week, but my weekend was relaxing. I have been downing the lavender tea to help combat headaches. I have also been on a Roobios kick. I have a blend here that has almond and vanilla in it! I love it 🙂 Vanilla chai is one of my fall and winter staples.

Oh did you get any pics of the bookstore? It sounds like fun! I love second hand stores ❤

      1. I’m pleased your weekend was relaxing if nothing else ❤ I actually have a bit of a headache so I might go grab me a cup of lavender tea after I've typed out this reply.
The last time I tried roobios it was a cold variety in Japan and I couldn't finish the bottle. Added almond and vanilla might make it more bearable, though 😛 I'm always on the lookout for winter warmer teas so I might see if I can find that next time I'm near the tea shop 😀
I didn't get any photos, but I'm up in Glasgow in a couple of weeks and I can almost guarantee I'll be visiting some second hand book stores then, so I'll be sure to get some photos ❤

  6. Wink Poppy Midnight and Spindle Fire both sound decent (I’m a bit reserved when it comes to YA ha). Might see if the library has some. Because I wouldn’t want to put a dent in the 30 books on my shelf, right? 🙂

I’m trying to decide if I want to finish reading His Majesty’s Dragon (it’s boring) or not.

  7. It seems like your adapting well to the changes in your life. I know it can’t be easy– but we’re all here for you! Keep up the great work. Self care is super important.

I love that you double posted! I feel compelled to do that sometimes, too. I just get so excited about things!!

Ooooh. I hope that you enjoy One Dark Throne! I can’t wait to see what people think of it. As you know, I wait until series are all done before I pop in and read them. I hope the verdict is good for the whole series!

    1. You are the best support always ❤ I know I can take all of the time I need, and you will be here. Thank you for that. It makes my life all the better.

I loved One Dark Throne and cannot wait to share my review next week 🙂 Although I may gush a bit I fear. Total fan girl with Kendare Blake now haha.

    1. Haha, I am down to allowing myself to write and respond a few hours throughout the week and then trying to blog hop one day a weekend. The problem is that work really hits me hard with screen time so I am usually in a bad way by the time I can try to log in. 🙂 But I will always be here. How could I not, with friends like yoU!
