Sunday Sum~Up

Sunday Sum_Up (1)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer that I am linking my Sunday Sum-Ups with. Stop by and say hello!

This is my first weekly recap in a few weeks due to a Small Health Break and then an unexpected back injury that has left me with nerve damage. I am currently on a heavy round of medications to combat pain and inflammation while I await my next follow up appointment to reassess where I am at with it all. Needless to say, my return has been slower than expected and my writing subpar. I am quite honestly, a bit of a train wreck lately 😉

But on the plus side, the restrictions and bedrest have meant plenty of fantastic reads! The blog should pick up more once I start to feel better and I am looking forward to sharing some of my recent reads.

I have made the difficult decision to shelf 1Q84 for now. Between the increased meds and my current mood, I just cannot muster the appropriate attention for this book (and I feel like it deserves more from me). But I will be returning to it!

The king’s scholar, the magus, believes he knows the site of an ancient treasure. To attain it for his king, he needs a skillful thief, and he selects Gen from the king’s prison. The magus is interested only in the thief’s abilities.

What Gen is interested in is anyone’s guess. Their journey toward the treasure is both dangerous and difficult, lightened only imperceptibly by the tales they tell of the old gods and goddesses.

  1. I hope you’re feeling better, and I hope you can start having less medication soon. If they were only less sleep inducing, right? But at least there’s reading 🙂 it’s really good that you’re a book person. Cause a lot of people aren’t, and there’s only so much stuff you can watch on video xD

And I can totally get how 1Q84 is not the right kind of read right now. Murakami books are hard to follow even when you’re at 100% capacity %D

Anyway, crossing my fingers that you’ll be feeling better soon!

    1. Yes, I am definitely not at Murakami capacity and may not be for a while. Too much going on! But I plan to return. I read enough to know that his work is some that I need to explore.

I am pulling myself off of certain meds this week and meeting with the doctor on Friday. I cannot function in a haze. I spent all week sleeping on a pile of books haha ❤

  2. I hope your back heals quickly! The last couple of weeks have been rough to you, I hope you’re handling it well enough and you seem to be maintaining a positive attitude. Hugs!

Your writing has not been subpar! I enjoyed the Graphic Content and a Thoughts and Goodreads Review posts. I didn’t have anything substantial to add so I didn’t comment 🙂

I just finished the Beast Player. I really enjoyed it (but the whole series is not in English). I’ve now started on the The Prophecy Con.

    1. Oh I am not sure I could tackle a series that has not been fully translated! That might drive my need to “complete” side insane. You are brave haha.

I am managing but have to admit my mental headspace has been a challenge. It has been a trying month and I aim to always stay positive, but I am not very tired and frustrated haha. I am stopping some of the pain meds and maybe that will help pull me out of this haze if I cannot tolerate things without them 🙂

  3. Take your time recovering. Don’t push yourself too fast. Just make the most of this time of rest while your body does what it needs to do. I’ve definitely heard that 1Q84 needs a lot of attention so I don’t blame you putting that one on hold.

    1. I am trying so hard to be a good “patient”. So far I am adhering to the restrictions, although I did cut back on the meds. They were a bit much for me, but I will ice and heat. I do think putting 1Q84 on hold needed to happen haha. It is going to require more focus than I seem to have with everything else. Thank you so much Ceri!

  4. I’m very excited to see what you’ll pick for the next “You Choose, I Read” book! And II hope you’re beginning to feel better ♥ It’s so inspiring to see your positive attitude shine through 🙂 I know the last few weeks have dealt you some challenges and there are lots of us (myself included!) keeping you in our thoughts ♥

  5. I really hope you feel better soon. My daughter has been having a week in bed with severe headaches and pain (period). I’m using the time to clean and cook and read and take of things which have been piling up. I had a great book haul this week too. Anne – Books of My Heart

  7. That GIF is perfect. Own it! That said, I hope your pain dissipates quickly. This sounds like no fun at all.

The Thief is on my TBR as this is a Newbery Honor book. However, I as I am planning to get through all the Winners first, well, it’s lower than I’d like it to be. XD I hope that you’re enjoying it so far!
