Sunday Sum~Up

Sunday Sum_Up (1)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer that I am linking my Sunday Sum-Ups with. Stop by and say hello!

I am trying to return to a sense of normalcy and routine after these past few weeks, but I still feel disconnected. It is amazing how much we can fail to realize that we rely on certain things (such as day to day routine) until they are removed from the equation. These past two weeks have been a battle against pain and sleep which upended everything. I did finally give in and allow the doctor to place me on a medication I was previously avoiding. It is not that I feel the medicine is “bad”, I am just aware that starting it means I may be in for the long haul. However, at this point, I need to consider my mental health and own needs. I cannot continue to suffer out of stubbornness, so we are beginning a trial run. Fingers crossed! The pain has been consuming, and I do not want to allow that ❤ I am really ready to shift my focus back to work and hobbies.

Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most–a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen and or remain a human forever.

The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby–it’s his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she’s more than what she appears. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good–But can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind’s greatest enemy?

  1. Good luck w/ the new medicine! And I agree, it’s amazing sometimes how a routine keeps us grounded, and how that routine being upset can throw us out of whack! Hope you’re feeling better!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

  2. I really hope the new meds work well and don’t give you side effects. And I really hope you can come back to your hobbies soon! And work. Even work can be great sometimes. You’re right about the day to day things grounding us. Although sometimes we’d like to escape, but in the end, if you don’t have that all of a sudden, you find yourself lost.

So hang in there! Can’t wait for our buddy read. I hope you’ll be feeling good soon ❤

  3. Ooh, you just reminded me to reply to your email haha. I read it right after I woke up so was half-asleep. Will get to that asap. Yay! So happy you get to read Rubyfruit Jungle – perfectly timed to read a LGBT book for Pride month too! 😀

I do hope that medication proves effective. I’m always a bit wary of going on any kind of painkiller too because I’m afraid I’ll become forever dependent on it but, like you said, you’ve got to look at trying to improve your quality of life and you don’t want the pain overtaking everything. I hope this turns out to be a good thing for you. ❤

Been wanting to watch The Theory of Everything for ages now.

    1. Thank you so much Ceri ❤ I am sure that decision to try the med was the correct one. I just tire of side effects and my med list ever growing. But if it helps, I need to accept that. I do highly recommend the Theory of Everything. Such a wonderful watch! Very excited about your choice and cannot wait to start reading it 🙂

  4. I totally understand your view on meds, but sometimes our bodies just need the extra help to cope… I hope this trial will work for you and that you will feel better soon! ❤ I love the sound of To Kill A Kingdom by the way. xx

  5. Oh I love that Ray Bradbury quote 🙂 Very appropriate for our recent Twitter convo! Wishing you the best of luck with your new medication. Whether the trial run determines you’ll stay on it or try something new, I hope you get some definitive results to work off of. Hope you’re enjoying TKAK, too! ♥

  6. I hope the medication helps you. I’m sorry you’ve suffered so. I’m reading several books right now, five I believe:
Death Threads (A Southern Sewing Circle #2) by Elizabeth Lynn Casey
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter #4) by J.K. Rowling
Map of Shadows (Mapwalker #1) by J.F. Penn
Traitor to the Throne (Rebel of the Sands #2) by Alwyn Hamilton
Wolf Bride (Lust in the Tudor Court #1) by Elizabeth Moss.
I like to have several Kindle books because I read while I workout on our elliptical.

  7. I can completely relate. Getting back into the habit again can be a challenge! Don’t push yourself too hard. I think you’re doing a great job! You have 4 posts this week! That’s awesome! I can barely get two written some weeks… O_o

I haven't seen The Theory of Everything. Other than Eddie Redmayne being AMAZING, what do you love about it?

  8. I hope the pain medications come with more relief than side effects!

I finished a couple of books this week, pondering which to start next, placed requests for 4 from the library and I’m ordering some books, too. :-/ LOL

      1. I’m sad to hear that. Please take care of yourself and take the time you need to get to a place you are satisfied with. We will be here for you.

I ordered new, used and direct from author books lol I’m waiting for B&N coupons to buy more. Especially as it’s my birthday month, I’ll be spending.

PS meant to say before, like the new photo!

          1. Yay for June bday haha Happy birthday early! I’m surprised B&N doesn’t send out birthday coupons; seems like a missed opportunity (heck most retailers do if you get their emails). I think if they were sending coupons for June I would have gotten them by now.

              1. I’ve asked before bi had a friend who was a member too and we always got them at the same time and then one time I did (always me lol) and I was told they were random and they didn’t know when. Not the best customer service haha

                  1. Bad typing. I did not* 👆

You’d think a customer asking about coupons and wanting to buy books would be an opportunity for a sale…

  9. I hope the medicine works and you start feeling better. I’m also stubborn and have been avoiding doctors and medicine. I know it is not okay, but I’m scared.

To Kill a Kingdom has been one of my favourite books of this year. Hope you are enjoying it.

    Happy readings!

    1. I can relate. Until I became too I’ll to ignore it a few years ago, I avoided them as well. And even now, I feel like it. I am always afraid of the next imaging and test results. But you do need to care for yourself 🖤 just remember that please.

I loved To Kill a Kingdom. I devoured it 😊

  10. I hope everything works out with your new medication! But I totally understand your reluctance to start it. And that Ray Bradbury quote is incredible…ahhh. Thanks for sharing! I really hope you finally get some relief from your pain soon!

    1. Yes! I love the quote also 🧡 and thank you about the meds. I am being incredibly whining and a bit down lately. But these are just the “chemical” changes as they are working towards what I am told is a large dose in gradual increase. I feel like it is beginning to level out though and feeling a little better! So “early” celebration dance 😊
