Liebster Award

Kaleena @Reader Voracious recently nominated me for the Liebster Award. For those of you who are not familiar with her, she is the best of human beings and one of my favorite presences within the book community. She is quick to offer support, friendship and a laugh and some of the most insightful and well-written reviews I have encountered. Always a pleasure. So if you are not acquainted, I highly encourage you to correct that. Thank you, Kaleena ❤

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, provide a link to their blog and display the award.
  • Answer 11 questions they asked you.
  • Come up with your own 11 questions
  • Tag 11 bloggers and don’t forget to tell them.

Kaleena’s Questions

1. What’s your favourite literary trope?
This is a tricky one. As someone who reads a lot of fantasy and YA, I encounter tropes quite regularly. And for the most part, I am okay with them when executed well. Perhaps my favorite trope will always be the unlikely hero. I am a fan of the underdog and watching them rise to the top!

2. If you could write a book, what would it be about?
Ah, I see what you did there. I actually have a current plot unfolding that I hope to start penning soon. But I prefer to keep that separate from the blog and hush hush for the time being. Pass.

3. What’s your favourite thing to do while reading?
Drink tea of course! And listen to classical music or my sound machine. I also tend to spend half of my reading time on Twitter and social media of late, which has to stop. It is truly detrimental to my TBR.

4. What’s your favourite food combinations?
Combination? I am trying to recall a combination. Since I changed my diet to lose all of this weight I do have two odd cravings: rosemary & popcorn or (don’t laugh at me) Rice cakes with peanut butter & raisins.

5. What’s the weirdest food combinations you like?
I discovered during one of my pregnancies that popcorn chicken goes incredibly well with soft-serve vanilla and I still attest to this.

6. What is your most prized possession?
Here is the part where I feel inclined to say my children, but children are not possessions. So my books. Aside from family and friends, they carry me through the hard days and make even the best ones better. They are not only a form of escapism, but inspiration, knowledge, and exploration that will never lose value.

7. Do you follow any book-tubers? If so, who’s your favourite? If not, why not?
I do! Lately, I have been on activity restrictions as many of you know, and Booktube has been a newfound interest. My favorite is Common Spence. Spencer has been my saving grace and has the greatest personality and insight! Just fun ❤ I have many other favorites as well. Maybe there will a future post on this!

8. Who are your favourite bloggers to follow on twitter?
Too many! And I hate being put on the spot so I am going to pass on this question because I love following you all ❤

9. What is your ideal vacation? (No money limits)
Several years ago, I would have answered this with ease, but limitations make me falter now. But ideally, I would spend a month or so traveling Europe (for starters).

10. What’s something ridiculous that you used to believe when you were younger?
Santa Claus?
Sorry if that is a spoiler for anyone *giggles*. I am not sure I have anything to really say here. Nothing is coming to mind aside from the usual childhood beliefs. And I have no regrets. Holidays were so much more magical!

11. What would be the clickbait title of the last book you read?
Suprise! It Was Exactly Who You Thought It Was. –
Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody (I still loved this book).

My Questions & Nominations (No Pressure)

  1. If you had to choose one fictional world to spend the remainder of your days in, where would you go?
  2. What was the last book/film that moved you to tears?
  3. Name one book that you truly disliked that was incredibly hyped or well received within the book community.
  4. Who are three of your favorite female protagonists and why?
  5.  Name a habit or vice that you currently have that you would like to give up or do away with.
  6. If you could only read one genre for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
  7.  If you were the main character in your current read, what would be your current situation (without spoilers of course)?
  8. What is one book that you recommend to everyone?
  9. What is something that most people do not know about you?
  10. Aside from reading and blogging, how do you like to spend most of your time?
  11. Name your favorite book villain or “bad guy” of all time.

  1. Twitter and social media in general are VERY detrimental to a TBR, I agree! Heck even blogging drags my reading time down now lol. And yes to books being very valued- I think I agree. 🙂

Oh and traveling Europe? *nods head vigorously*

    Fun post!

Thank you so much for the kindest of words, love! you are one of my favorite people in the bookish community and I absolutely adore your reviews & content. You are amazing and I am so glad that our love of books brought us together! xoxo

I loved reading your answers – and I love the unlikely hero!!!
Also nice tease there with the story idea! I will wait impatiently in the corner.

  3. Confession: I am totally going to eat me some popcorn chicken with vanilla soft-serve. That actually sounds AMAZING! Thank you for opening my eyes to such a thing! Also– I think you should make a post of clickbait “real” titles for books you’ve read. I laughed aloud reading that. You have a knack!

D’aw. Thanks for tagging me! I normally don’t do these things, but your questions are brilliant and I want to answer them. ❤

  4. Thank you so much for the tag, dear! ♥ First of all, Kaleena is such a sweetheart, so YES to that, haha.

Second, I also love the unlikely hero trope! I know it can get a little overdone but I’m a sucker for it, especially in MG fantasy like Percy Jackson.

I totally feel you on spending too much time on social media. You know how I was doing my 360-pages-per-day challenge on twitter? During the 9 days I met my goals, I spent SO LITTLE time on social media and it felt sooo good! But the last few days I’ve been stuck in twitter spirals nonstop and I’ve only been reading about 100pg per day (which is still good, but not meeting my goal!). I need to do better.

And I could 100% see popcorn chicken and ice cream being amazing, actually. I personally am a big fan of french fries dipped in chocolate ice cream.

Last thing – thank you for mentioning Spence’s videos! We just became twitter mutuals recently but I keep meaning to check out their channel! I’m going to do that tonight!

    1. Omg yes!!! I could live off of French fried dipped in Wendy’s frosty. Do you ever do that?! It is life 🤣

You and I are in sync haha. But you are doing way better with 100 pages. I am in total slump mode. Dying my hair tonight just to bust up the monotony. I have problems. You will love Spencer! He is fantastic ❤❤❤

  5. Oh my gosh I love all of your answers…and your questions!! I can’t wait to answer them, thank you so much for tagging me ♥♥ I’m not really a fan of rosemary in my food, although I love the smell, but your rice cake snack actually sounds delicious! I’ve always loved raisins which I only recently found out from friends puts me in the minority of people? That’s ok—more for me 🙂

  6. Loved your aswers, Dani! 🙂 Food combinations are always interesting read/get to know about… My OH likes to eat milk chocolate and cheese& onion potato crisps at the same time because he says it tastes like orange. I mean, I dunno 😀 and I am a total salty type.. I I love opening a jar of gherkins (pickles?) cover them in mayo and just crunch away and when I’m finished take a sip of that gherkin liquid from the jar. My liver must be a flaming hell 😀 hahaha

Thank you so much for the nomination and your questions are really really good- I will defo make an effort and have a go at answering them 🙂 ❤

    1. Thanks Stan! I can get down with some serious Chocolate Milk. It is my comfort drink haha. I keep some in the fridge for when I am feeling crummy. I also love pickles! So I relate a bit 😉 Will look forward to your answers if you get time but do not feel obligated. I know you have been super busy 🖤

  7. I cannot imagine the taste of rosemary and popcorn. Like- at all. lol. But I can see why you´d like to eat rice cakes with peanut butter and raisins. 🙂 Thats a combo that´s just SO good. Like a nutella bread with banana slices ( I´d kill for one of those right now. )

    Great post! ❤
