Integrated circuits (ICs) don't always work the first time. Many things can and do go wrong in analog circuit designs. There are a number of common errors that often require costly chip redesign and refabrication, all of which can be avoided when designers are aware of the pitfalls. To realize success, IC designers need a complete toolbox-a toolbox filled not only with a solid background in electronics, design concepts and analysis skills, but also with the most valuable tool of all: experience. Analog BiCMOS Design offers IC design engineers the learning equivalent to decades of practical experience. Culled from the careers of practicing engineers, it presents the most effective methods and the pitfalls most frequently encountered in the design of biCMOS integrated circuits. Accessible to anyone who has taken a course in electronics, this book covers the basic design of bandgap voltage references, current mirrors, amplifiers, and comparators. It reviews common design errors often overlooked and offers design techniques used to remedy those problems. With its complete coverage of basic circuit building blocks, full details of common design pitfalls, and a compendium of design and layout problems and solutions, Analog BiCMOS Design is the perfect reference for IC designers and engineers, fledgling and experienced alike. Read it to reinforce your background, browse it for ideas on avoiding pitfalls, and when you run into a problem, use it to find a solution.

Download and read online ebook BiCMOS Technology and Applications write by Antonio R. Alvarez. This book was released on 2012-12-06. BiCMOS Technology and Applications available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. BiCMOS Technology and Applications, Second Edition provides a synthesis of available knowledge about the combination of bipolar and MOS transistors in a common integrated circuit - BiCMOS. In this new edition all chapters have been updated and completely new chapters on emerging topics have been added. In addition, BiCMOS Technology and Applications, Second Edition provides the reader with a knowledge of either CMOS or Bipolar technology/design a reference with which they can make educated decisions regarding the viability of BiCMOS in their own application. BiCMOS Technology and Applications, Second Edition is vital reading for practicing integrated circuit engineers as well as technical managers trying to evaluate business issues related to BiCMOS. As a textbook, this book is also appropriate at the graduate level for a special topics course in BiCMOS. A general knowledge in device physics, processing and circuit design is assumed. Given the division of the book, it lends itself well to a two-part course; one on technology and one on design. This will provide advanced students with a good understanding of tradeoffs between bipolar and MOS devices and circuits.

Download and read online ebook Analog Circuit Design write by Rudy J. van de Plassche. This book was released on 2013-06-29. Analog Circuit Design available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The realization of signal sampling and quantization at high sample rates with low power dissipation is an important goal in many applications, includ ing portable video devices such as camcorders, personal communication devices such as wireless LAN transceivers, in the read channels of magnetic storage devices using digital data detection, and many others. This paper describes architecture and circuit approaches for the design of high-speed, low-power pipeline analog-to-digital converters in CMOS. Here the term high speed is taken to imply sampling rates above 1 Mhz. In the first section the dif ferent conversion techniques applicable in this range of sample rates is dis cussed. Following that the particular problems associated with power minimization in video-rate pipeline ADCs is discussed. These include optimi zation of capacitor sizes, design of low-voltage transmission gates, and opti mization of switched capacitor gain blocks and operational amplifiers for minimum power dissipation. As an example of the application of these tech niques, the design of a power-optimized lO-bit pipeline AID converter (ADC) that achieves =1. 67 mW per MS/s of sampling rate from 1 MS/s to 20 MS/s is described. 2. Techniques for CMOS Video-Rate AID Conversion Analog-to-digital conversion techniques can be categorized in many ways. One convenient means of comparing techniques is to examine the number of "analog clock cycles" required to produce one effective output sample of the signal being quantized.
