Computational Modeling of Tensegrity Structures available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book provides an in-depth, numerical investigation of tensegrity systems from a structural point of view, using the laws of fundamental mechanics for general pin-jointed systems with self-stressed mechanisms. Tensegrity structures have been known for decades, mostly as an art of form for monuments in architectural design. In Computational Modeling of Tensegrity Structures, Professor Buntara examines these formations, integrating perspectives from mechanics, robotics, and biology, emphasizing investigation of tensegrity structures for both inherent behaviors and their apparent ubiquity in nature. The author offers numerous examples and illustrative applications presented in detail and with relevant MATLAB codes. Combining a chapter on the analyses of tensegrity structures along with sections on computational modeling, design, and the latest applications of tensegrity structures, the book is ideal for R&D engineers and students working in a broad range of disciplines interested in structural design.

This book was released on 2014-05-05. Computational Modelling of Biomechanics and Biotribology in the Musculoskeletal System available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Computational Modelling of Biomechanics and Biotribology in the Musculoskeletal System reviews how a wide range of materials are modelled and how this modelling is applied. Computational modelling is increasingly important in the design and manufacture of biomedical materials, as it makes it possible to predict certain implant-tissue reactions, degradation, and wear, and allows more accurate tailoring of materials' properties for the in vivo environment. Part I introduces generic modelling of biomechanics and biotribology with a chapter on the fundamentals of computational modelling of biomechanics in the musculoskeletal system, and a further chapter on finite element modelling in the musculoskeletal system. Chapters in Part II focus on computational modelling of musculoskeletal cells and tissues, including cell mechanics, soft tissues and ligaments, muscle biomechanics, articular cartilage, bone and bone remodelling, and fracture processes in bones. Part III highlights computational modelling of orthopedic biomaterials and interfaces, including fatigue of bone cement, fracture processes in orthopedic implants, and cementless cup fixation in total hip arthroplasty (THA). Finally, chapters in Part IV discuss applications of computational modelling for joint replacements and tissue scaffolds, specifically hip implants, knee implants, and spinal implants; and computer aided design and finite element modelling of bone tissue scaffolds. This book is a comprehensive resource for professionals in the biomedical market, materials scientists and mechanical engineers, and those in academia. Covers generic modelling of cells and tissues; modelling of biomaterials and interfaces; biomechanics and biotribology Discusses applications of modelling for joint replacements and applications of computational modelling in tissue engineering

Download and read online ebook Tensegrity Structures Design Methods write by Oren Vilnay. This book was released on 2023-10-05. Tensegrity Structures Design Methods available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Tensegrity structures are pre-stressed systems of cables and bars in which no bar is connected to the other and the structure has no continuous rigid skeleton. This general introduction presents an original general method for the design of tensegrity structures, the first configurations of which were found by trial and error. The book begins with two-dimensional tensegrity structures, particularly tensegrity nets, tensegrity chains, tensegrity rings and tensegrity arches. These are then developed to original configurations of spatial tensegrity structures such as tensegrity slabs, primitive spatial tensegrity arches, and primitive tensegrity domes, as well as more elaborate spatial tensegrity structures such as tensegrity cylindrical shells, slim tensegrity domes, tensegrity vaults, and tensegrity caps. Presents a robust new approach to the design of tensegrity structures Extends tensegrity structures to new three-dimensional configurations Tensegrity Structures Design Methods suits structural, civil, and mechanical engineers and architects, as well as graduate students. Oren Vilnay is Professor Emeritus and was founder and head of the Department of Structural Engineering at Ben Gurion University Israel. He is also former head of the Structural Engineering Section at Technion—Israel Institute of Technology. Leon Chernin is Lecturer at the University of Dundee. He was granted a PhD in Structural Engineering from the Technion—Israel Institute of Technology. His research activities encompass both physical testing and numerical modelling. Margi Vilnay is Senior Lecturer at the University of Dundee. She was granted a PhD in Structural Engineering from Heriot-Watt University. She is a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the first woman to be elected Vice-Chair of COMEC (Council of Military Education Committees).
