At the Heart of the Coral Triangle available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. "Endlessly fascinating, unpretentiously educational, thoughtfully accessible and beautifully presented" - Alex Tattersall, award-winning underwater photographer and the founder of Underwater Visions. The Coral Triangle, straddling the confluence of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, harbours the greatest biodiversity of marine life on the planet. It is home to a wondrous variety, including 75% of the world's coral species and around 2500 species of fish. The biological and environmental diversity is driven by the volcanically active and complex geology of the so called 'Ring of Fire'. Habitats range from underwater slopes of volcanic black sand to extensive coral reefs in atolls and vast calderas. While clearly vulnerable to increasing global threats such as climate change, pollution and overfishing, the Coral Triangle currently features some the richest coral reefs in the world. With stunning photography supported by an engaging and accessible text, this book highlights and celebrates this biodiversity along with the underlying message that it needs our care and protection before it is too late.

Meet the world's most fascinating sea creatures—see the lives and curiosities of colorful fish and coral reefs—this spectacular volume has more than 300 color photos and extraordinary text from a leading marine biologist and underwater photographer, and the international expert on seahorses. In this richly informative volume, brimming with new discoveries and more than three hundred colorful images of jaw-dropping fish and coral reefs, you'll swim in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans; you'll be dazzled in the Coral Triangle and amazed in Triton Bay. Up close you'll meet the Cenderawasih fairy wrasse, with its florescent yellow streak; the polka-dot longnose filefish; and the multicolored seadragon. There are scarlet-colored corals, baby-blue sponges, daffodil crinoids, and all sorts of mystifying creatures that change color at the drop of a hat. The whale shark is almost larger than life and the author's beloved pygmy seahorse, unless photographed, is almost too tiny to see. The wondrous creatures inside are charmers and tricksters and excel in the arts of seduction and deception, and you'll have the rare chance to see and delight in their antics. You'll also learn what they eat, how they play, and how they care for one another, live on one another, and mimic others when they're afraid. There is also compelling insight into the naming process, which sea creatures are facing extinction, and how we can help them before it's too late.

The Diver’s Tale - read free eBook in online reader or directly download on the web page. Select files or add your book in reader. Download and read online ebook The Diver’s Tale write by Nick Lyon. This book was released on 2019-02-22. The Diver’s Tale available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The Diver’s Tale is an unvarnished account of real British diving, based on the author’s 40+ year experience. Britain is an island nation so, unsurprisingly, scuba diving is a popular British pastime enjoyed by some 50,000 keen participants and just as many of the armchair variety. A carefully-structured programme of training ensures that the British diver is well-prepared for the challenging conditions which may be encountered beneath our seas. Or does it? How many trainee divers were taught about the perils of high-speed testicular trauma during descent? Or the dangers of having sex in a tent with a deaf person? Why bacon should be in your first aid kit. How to build a space shuttle using salvaged ammunition? Or why the name Valerie is so very special? During a 40 year plus odyssey through the strange and exotic world of British diving, Nick Lyon and his disparate collection of buddies have answered all these questions from personal experience, and many more besides. It may not be pretty, it may not be painless but to those in the know, it’s real British diving. From ill-fitting homemade wetsuits to technical closed-circuit rebreather diving, this book is an insight into the ‘glamour’ and history of scuba diving in the UK by a man who has done it all. The Diver’s Tale is not a diving manual — quite the opposite. How not to do it, why not to do it, when not to do it and who not to do it with. Amusing, frequently embarrassing, often unpleasant and occasionally tragic, the book plunges into the world of the real British diver! Now re-edited and brought back up to date, with a new chapter and a Foreword by Andy Torbet. Acclaim for The Diver’s Tale ‘When it comes to celebrating the depressive/compulsive nature of the British diving condition, there is no writer like the talented Mr Lyon… I cannot recommend it highly enough’— SCUBA. ‘I found it utterly absorbing and so did my budgie, Cyril, as it fitted perfectly in the bottom of his cage’— Alex ‘Woz’ Warzynski, Chairman of the BSAC. ‘A breath-taking triumph that must take its place at the very pinnacle of diving literature, above Cousteau and all them lot. Now will you delete the photos?’— Helen Hadley, Co-owner Orkney and Shetland Charters.

Download and read online ebook Nudibranch & Sea Slug Identification write by Terrence Gosliner. This book was released on 2018. Nudibranch & Sea Slug Identification available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In 2015 three leading scientific experts on nudibranchs and sea slugs collaborated to produce a comprehensive guide for divers and scientists to the Indo-Pacific region. After only three years, Nudibranch and Sea Slug Identification Indo-Pacific has sold out and become outdated due to the discovery of new species and numerous changes to the taxonomy of these organisms. On 1 November 2018, a new 2nd Edition will be realeased -- updated and reorganised, including 185 new species. Among other features, the new edition includes additional photographs of species, an identification key, and an up-to-date classification. The Indo-Pacific represents the largest expanse of tropical ocean in the world, stretching from the Indian Ocean coast of southern Africa and the Red Sea to the central Pacific of the Hawaiian Islands, Easter Island and the Marquesas. This region supports the most diverse marine fauna of any place in the world for most groups of marine organisms. The nudibranchs and sea slugs are no exception to this rule; there are about 3,000 described species of these organisms in the world and at least 40% of these have been found exclusively in the Indo-Pacific tropics. This book illustrates 2,138 Indo-Pacific nudibranchs and sea slugs, including many undescribed species.
