This proactive resource provides solutions that will motivate dermatologists to make a difference, including free rural clinics and incentives to attract dermatologists to the aforementioned areas. Comprehensive yet concise, the book encompasses not only the logistics of the healthcare issues, including location, incentive, and set up of facility but includes insight into the effectiveness of teledermatology, a practice more commonly utilized due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Additionally, chapters examine the relationship between economic viability and quality of care, as well as government incentives and political action to mitigate this issue. Unique and timely, Dermatology in Rural Settings is an invaluable resource for dermatologists, resident dermatologists, and academic physicians interested in rural and urban health.

Download and read online ebook Prevention of Skin Cancer write by David Hill. This book was released on 2013-03-14. Prevention of Skin Cancer available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Our series Cancer Prevention - Cancer Control continues to address the causes and prevention of cancer. In this volume, Hill, Elwood, and English bring together a rich resource summarizing the state of science underpinning the primary prevention of skin cancer. While skin cancer causes an increasing burden, particularly in populations of European origin, our understanding of the role of sun exposure together with the genetic components of skin cancer continues to grow. Given the emphasis on evidence-based medicine and public health prevention efforts, it is noteworthy that, although we can all access the same evidence base, countries around the world have had remarkably different responses to the application of this knowledge to prevent skin cancer. The outstanding contribution of the Australian public health community to the scientific understanding of skin cancer etiology and the translation of this knowledge into national prevention efforts uniquely positions the editors to compile this volume focused on the primary prevention of skin cancer. In so doing they draw on an international team of authors to present a “state of the science” summary of skin cancer prevention and to identify those areas where uncertainty remains. To achieve successful prevention of cancer we must translate our scientific knowledge base into effective prevention programs. This book offers the reader keen insights into the depth of our understanding of etiologic pathways for skin cancer. This etiologic science base is complemented by rigorous prevention science placing emphasis on the social context for effective and sustained prevention efforts.

UV radiation is recognized as the major risk factor for skin can cer. For the last three decades the incidence and mortality of skin cancer have been increasing steadily in almost all parts of the world. Unfortunately, there have been very few advances in the management and treatment of skin cancer. In comparison to other malignant tumors, skin cancer offers the unique opportuni ty to identify this tumor at an early stage. Thus, there is strong interest in preventing death by early diagnosis and prompt treat ment. The proceedings of the International Congress on Skin Cancer and UV Radiation which was held in Bochum Germany in October 1996, reflect the newest scientific standards in the field of skin cancer. The conference in Bochum was a platform for leading scientists from all over the world to discuss the complexity and diversity of UV radiation in its interaction with the skin. Starting with basic science like physiology, immunology, and molecular biochemistry of the skin as influenced by UV radiati on, the book presents a profound survey into the field of skin can cer by focusing on the latest scientific results in prevention, early detection, treatment, and epidemiology. This book was released on 2016. DermAccess available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Abstract: DermAccess is an emerging company that will provide teledermatology services to the rural health clinics (RHC) in California. The concept of DermaAccess is to provide access to specialty care for patients that reside in rural areas. This allows RHCs to provide healthcare services at a wider range, which improves the efficiency, affordability, and quality of care. RHCs will purchase a high-resolution camera and a monthly subscription to an online portal from DermaAccess. It allows them to have access to a dermatologist who will also have a monthly subscription to the online portal to access patient information. Currently, the market size of telederamtology includes 271 RHCs in California. Whereas, the competition includes only one other company in California focused on similar concept as DermaAccess. This provides an early opportunity for DermaAccess to respond to the rapidly growing demand of increasing healthcare access, as the competition is likely to grow.
