Download and read online ebook Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics write by Vladimir Dobrev. This book was released on 2013-04-09. Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Traditionally, Lie Theory is a tool to build mathematical models for physical systems. Recently, the trend is towards geometrisation of the mathematical description of physical systems and objects. A geometric approach to a system yields in general some notion of symmetry which is very helpful in understanding its structure. Geometrisation and symmetries are meant in their broadest sense, i.e., classical geometry, differential geometry, groups and quantum groups, infinite-dimensional (super-)algebras, and their representations. Furthermore, we include the necessary tools from functional analysis and number theory. This is a large interdisciplinary and interrelated field. Samples of these new trends are presented in this volume, based on contributions from the Workshop “Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics” held near Varna, Bulgaria, in June 2011. This book is suitable for an extensive audience of mathematicians, mathematical physicists, theoretical physicists, and researchers in the field of Lie Theory.

This book was released on 2011. The Schrodinger Model for the Minimal Representation of the Indefinite Orthogonal Group $O(p,q)$ available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The authors introduce a generalization of the Fourier transform, denoted by $\mathcal{F}_C$, on the isotropic cone $C$ associated to an indefinite quadratic form of signature $(n_1,n_2)$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$ ($n=n_1+n_2$: even). This transform is in some sense the unique and natural unitary operator on $L^2(C)$, as is the case with the Euclidean Fourier transform $\mathcal{F}_{\mathbb{R}^n}$ on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$. Inspired by recent developments of algebraic representation theory of reductive groups, the authors shed new light on classical analysis on the one hand, and give the global formulas for the $L^2$-model of the minimal representation of the simple Lie group $G=O(n_1+1,n_2+1)$ on the other hand.

Download and read online ebook Mathematics Matters in Education write by Yeping Li. This book was released on 2017-10-03. Mathematics Matters in Education available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book is inspired by Roger E. Howe's contributions to the international communities of mathematics and mathematics education. Renowned for his research contributions in the fields of representation theory, automorphic forms, harmonic analysis, and invariant theory, Dr. Howe has also fundamentally deepened our understanding of the mathematics taught in the early school grades and has challenged and stimulated mathematicians and mathematics educators to work together to examine this part of the mathematical universe more critically and in imaginative new ways. This volume will help summarize and highlight Howe's contributions to several topic areas in mathematics education, demonstrating the possibility and importance of engaging mathematicians in high-impact research in mathematics education, and showcasing the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and exchange.
