Ultra-Short Pulsed Laser Engineered Metal-Glass Nanocomposites available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Glasses containing metallic nanoparticles exhibit very promising linear and nonlinear optical properties, mainly due to the surface plasmon resonances (SPRs) of the nanoparticles. The spectral position in the visible and near-infrared range and polarization dependence of the SPR are characteristically determined by the nanoparticles’ shapes. The focus of Ultra-Short Pulsed Laser Engineered Metal-Glass Nanocomposites is the interaction of intense ultra-short laser pulses with glass containing silver nanoparticles embedded in soda-lime glass, and nanostructural modifications in metal-glass nanocomposites induced by such laser pulses. In order to provide a comprehensive physical picture of the processes leading to laser-induced persistent shape transformation of the nanoparticles, series of experimental results investigating the dependences of laser assisted shape modifications of nanoparticles with laser pulse intensity, excitation wavelength, temperature are considered. In addition, the resulting local optical dichroism allows producing very flexibly polarizing optical (sub-) microstructures with well-specified optical properties. The achieved considerable progress towards technological application of this technique, in particular also for long-term optical data storage, is also discussed.

Download and read online ebook Progress in Nonlinear Nano-Optics write by Shuji Sakabe. This book was released on 2014-12-27. Progress in Nonlinear Nano-Optics available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book presents the state of the art in nonlinear nanostructures for ultrafast laser applications. Most recent results in two emerging fields are presented: (i) generation of laser-induced nanostructures in materials like metals, metal oxides and semiconductors, and (ii) ultrafast excitation and energy transfer in nanoscale physical, chemical and hybrid systems. Particular emphasis is laid on the up-to-date controversially discussed mechanisms of sub-wavelength ripple formation including models of self-organized material transport and multiphoton excitation channels, nonlinear optics of plasmonic structures (nanotips, nanowires, 3D-metamaterials), and energy localization and transport on ultrafast time scale and spatial nanoscale. High-resolution spectroscopy, simulation and characterization techniques are reported. New applications of ultrashort-pulsed lasers for materials processing and the use of nanostructured materials for characterizing laser fields and laser-matter-interactions are discussed.

Download and read online ebook Laser-induced Shape Transformation of Silver Nanoparticles Embedded in Glass write by Andrei Stalmashonak. This book was released on 2009. Laser-induced Shape Transformation of Silver Nanoparticles Embedded in Glass available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Glasses containing metallic nanoparticles show very promising linear and nonlinear optical properties, mainly due to the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of the nanoparticles. Spectral position (in the visible and near-infrared range) and polarization dependence of the SPR are, besides other parameters, characteristically determined by the nanoparticles' shapes. In this context, laser-based techniques to modify the shape of the metal particles are of great interest since they provide a very powerful and flexible tool to control and optimize the optical properties of these materials. This thesis considers aspects of interactions of intense fs laser pulses with silver nanoparticles incorporated in soda-lime glass; and reveals new information concerning the processes arising by excitation of the silver nanoparticles by the laser pulses and leading to structural alterations. The studies presented in the thesis aim to understand in details the mechanism of NP shape transformation, as well as, to optimize the technique of laser-induced modification of the optical properties of composite materials with metal nanoparticles for production of (sub-) micron structures with high polarization contrast and very broad tunable range of dichroism; that, in turn, will allow this technique to be used for many applications.

Nanomaterials - read free eBook in online reader or directly download on the web page. Select files or add your book in reader. Download and read online ebook Nanomaterials write by S. C. Singh. This book was released on 2012-10-22. Nanomaterials available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The first in-depth treatment of the synthesis, processing, and characterization of nanomaterials using lasers, ranging from fundamentals to the latest research results, this handy reference is divided into two main sections. After introducing the concepts of lasers, nanomaterials, nanoarchitectures and laser-material interactions in the first three chapters, the book goes on to discuss the synthesis of various nanomaterials in vacuum, gas and liquids. The second half discusses various nanomaterial characterization techniques involving lasers, from Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopies to light dynamic scattering, laser spectroscopy and such unusual techniques as laser photo acoustic, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, ultrafast dynamics and laser-induced thermal pulses. The specialist authors adopt a practical approach throughout, with an emphasis on experiments, set-up, and results. Each chapter begins with an introduction and is uniform in covering the basic approaches, experimental setups, and dependencies of the particular method on different parameters, providing sufficient theory and modeling to understand the principles behind the techniques.
