Moving to America turns H&à's life inside out. For all the 10 years of her life, H&à has only known Saigon: the thrills of its markets, the joy of its traditions, the warmth of her friends close by, and the beauty of her very own papaya tree. But now the Vietnam War has reached her home. H&à and her family are forced to flee as Saigon falls, and they board a ship headed toward hope. In America, H&à discovers the foreign world of Alabama: the coldness of its strangers, the dullness of its food, the strange shape of its landscape, and the strength of her very own family. This is the moving story of one girl's year of change, dreams, grief, and healing as she journeys from one country to another, one life to the next.

This book was released on 2015-04. Life Inside Out available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Growing up in the late sixties and early seventies was fast and furious. The United States was in the heat of the Vietnam War. The theme of the time was sex, drugs, and rock-'n'-roll. I flung myself into the culture and adopted the lifestyle as my own. I was a full-fledged drunk and an addict by the time I graduated from high school. Prison, a failed marriage, and a lost desire to be a father to my two sons were proof that my life was crashing around me. Then I surrendered to Christ. It happened in the back seat of a squad car, as I was headed to prison for the third time. The change was immediate and profound, something only God could orchestrate. I'm a new man. Today, I'm pushing, pulling, and doing everything I can to help others out of the same boat I was in. From my story, you will learn that God calls even the worst of sinners. You see, God is in the business of restoring lives, and my dramatic conversion is a powerful testimony of just how much God loves people like you and me.

Download and read online ebook Turning Emotion Inside Out write by Edward S. Casey. This book was released on 2021-11-15. Turning Emotion Inside Out available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In Turning Emotion Inside Out, Edward S. Casey challenges the commonplace assumption that our emotions are to be located inside our minds, brains, hearts, or bodies. Instead, he invites us to rethink our emotions as fundamentally, although not entirely, emerging from outside and around the self, redirecting our attention from felt interiority to the emotions located in the world around us, beyond the confines of subjectivity. This book begins with a brief critique of internalist views of emotion that hold that feelings are sequestered within a subject. Casey affirms that while certain emotions are felt as resonating within our subjectivity, many others are experienced as occurring outside any such subjectivity. These include intentional or expressive feelings that transpire between ourselves and others, such as an angry exchange between two people, as well as emotions or affects that come to us from beyond ourselves. Casey claims that such far‐out emotions must be recognized in a full picture of affective life. In this way, the book proposes to “turn emotion inside out.”
