Download and read online ebook Materials Characterization Using Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Methods write by Gerhard Huebschen. This book was released on 2016-04-05. Materials Characterization Using Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Methods available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Materials Characterization Using Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Methods discusses NDT methods and how they are highly desirable for both long-term monitoring and short-term assessment of materials, providing crucial early warning that the fatigue life of a material has elapsed, thus helping to prevent service failures. Materials Characterization Using Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Methods gives an overview of established and new NDT techniques for the characterization of materials, with a focus on materials used in the automotive, aerospace, power plants, and infrastructure construction industries. Each chapter focuses on a different NDT technique and indicates the potential of the method by selected examples of applications. Methods covered include scanning and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray microtomography and diffraction, ultrasonic, electromagnetic, microwave, and hybrid techniques. The authors review both the determination of microstructure properties, including phase content and grain size, and the determination of mechanical properties, such as hardness, toughness, yield strength, texture, and residual stress.

Download and read online ebook Nondestructive Characterization of Materials IV write by J.F. Bussière. This book was released on 2013-11-11. Nondestructive Characterization of Materials IV available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. There is a great deal of interest in extending nondestructive technologies beyond the location and identification of cracks and voids. Specifically there is growing interest in the application of nondestructive evaluation (NOEl to the measurement of physical and mechanical properties of materials. The measurement of materials properties is often referred to as materials characterization; thus nondestructive techniques applied to characterization become nondestructive characterization (NDCl. There are a number of meetings, proceedings and journals focused upon nondestructive technologies and the detection and identification of cracks and voids. However, the series of symposia, of which these proceedings represent the fourth, are the only meetings uniquely focused upon nondestructive characterization. Moreover, these symposia are especially concerned with stimulating communication between the materials, mechanical and manufacturing engineer and the NDE technology oriented engineer and scientist. These symposia recognize that it is the welding of these areas of expertise that is necessary for practical development and application of NDC technology to measurements of components for in service life time and sensor technology for intelligent processing of materials. These proceedings are from the fourth international symposia and are edited by c.o. Ruud, J. F. Bussiere and R.E. Green, Jr. . The dates, places, etc of the symposia held to date area as follows: Symposia on Nondestructive Methods for TITLE: Material Property Determination DATES: April 6-8, 1983 PLACE: Hershey, PA, USA CHAIRPERSONS: C.O. Ruud and R.E. Green, Jr.

Download and read online ebook Nondestructive Methods for Materials Characterization: write by George Y. Baaklini. This book was released on 2014-06-05. Nondestructive Methods for Materials Characterization: available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Characterization of material properties is critical for understanding the material's mechanical behavior and design performance under its operating conditions. The necessity to characterize materials for a myriad of applications has spurred the development of many new methods and instruments. However, many of these tools require destructive sectioning of the material to provide characterization and do not provide key information about material parameters in their operating environments. An ideal characterization tool would provide data about the material properties that affect micro- and macro-structural behavior without the need to destructively section the sample. Such data can only be obtained using nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methodologies; therefore NDE is essential for almost any advanced industrial product. NDE offers the possibility to determine/gauge material parameters and defects at nearly any point, line, surface or volume element of interest. This book brings together researchers to focus and report on multidisciplinary approaches to solving materials characterization problems. Topics include: process control and deformation behavior via X-ray techniques; NDE for fracture, fatigue and corrosion; electric and dielectric NDE; structure-sensitive properties for NDE characterization; NDE for silicon wafers and thin films and optical and infrared techniques.
