This unprecedented book offers all the details of the mathematical mechanics underlying state-of-the-art modeling of skeletal muscle contraction. The aim is to provide an integrated vision of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology for this one understanding. The method is to take advantage of modern mathematical technology — Eilenberg-Mac Lane category theory, Robinson infinitesimal calculus and Kolmogorov probability theory — to examine a succession of distinguishable universes of particles, and continuous, thermodynamic, chemical, and molecular bodies, all with a focus on proofs by algebraic calculation without set theory. Also provided are metaphors and analogies, and careful distinction between representational pictures, mental model drawings, and mathematical diagrams.High school mathematics teachers, undergraduate and graduate college students, and researchers in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology may use this integrated publication to broaden their perspective on science, and to experience the precision that mathematical mechanics brings to understanding the muscular mechanism of nearly all animal behavior.

The method is to take advantage of latest mathematical technologies — Eilenberg-Mac Lane category theory, Robinson infinitesimal calculus and Kolmogorov probability theory — to explicate Particle Mechanics, The Theory of Substances (categorical thermodynamics), and computer simulation using a diagram-based parallel programming language (stochastic timing machinery). Proofs rely almost entirely on algebraic calculations without set theory. Metaphors and analogies, and distinctions between representational pictures, mental model drawings, and mathematical diagrams are offered.AP level high school calculus students, high school science teachers, undergraduates and graduate college students, and researchers in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology may use this integrated publication to broaden their perspective on science, and to experience the precision that mathematical mechanics brings to understanding the molecular mechanism vital for nearly all animal behavior.

This book was released on 1979-12-31. Mechanics available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. When I began to write this book, I originally had in mind the needs of university students in their first year. May aim was to keep the mathematics simple. No advanced techniques are used and there are no complicated applications. The emphasis is on an understanding of the basic ideas and problems which require expertise but do not contribute to this understanding are not discussed. How ever, the presentation is more sophisticated than might be considered appropri ate for someone with no previous knowledge of the subject so that, although it is developed from the beginning, some previous acquaintance with the elements of the subject would be an advantage. In addition, some familiarity with element ary calculus is assumed but not with the elementary theory of differential equations, although knowledge of the latter would again be an advantage. It is my opinion that mechanics is best introduced through the motion of a particle, with rigid body problems left until the subject is more fully developed. However, some experienced mathematicians consider that no introduction is complete without a discussion of rigid body mechanics. Conventional accounts of the subject invariably include such a discussion, but with the problems restricted to two-dimensional ones in the books which claim to be elementary. The mechanics of rigid bodies is therefore included but there is no separate discussion of the theory in two dimensions.

Particle Mechanics available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. * Assumes no prior knowledge * Adopts a modelling approach * Numerous tutorial problems, worked examples and exercises included * Elementary topics augmented by planetary motion and rotating frames This text provides an invaluable introduction to mechanicsm confining attention to the motion of a particle. It begins with a full discussion of the foundations of the subject within the context of mathematical modelling before covering more advanced topics including the theory of planetary orbits and the use of rotating frames of reference. Truly introductory , the style adoped is perfect for those unfamiliar with the subject and , as emphasis is placed on understanding, readers who have already studied maechanics will also find a new insight into a fundamental topic.

Download and read online ebook A Treatise on the Analytical Dynamics of Particles and Rigid Bodies write by E. T. Whittaker. This book was released on 1988-12-15. A Treatise on the Analytical Dynamics of Particles and Rigid Bodies available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This classic book is a encylopaedic and comprehensive account of the classical theory of analytical dynamics. The treatment is rigorous yet readable, starting from first principles with kinematics before moving to equations of motion and specific and explicit methods for solving them, with chapters devoted to particle dyanmics, rigid bodies, vibration, and dissipative systems. Hamilton's principle is introduced and then applied to dynamical systems, including three-body systems and celestial mechanics. Very many examples and exercisies are supplied throughout.
