Wie kann es sein, dass die westliche Kultur, mit besonderem Augenmerk auf die griechisch-römische Mythologie keinerlei Probleme hatte, sich als Teil der Natur, also des Tieres zu sehen, und heute, in der Moderne, das Tier als etwas unter sich Stehendes sieht? Kann man also tatsächlich davon sprechen, dass der Übergang vom Mythos zum Logos ebenfalls jener markante Übergang von der Natur zur Kultur ist? Ist es jener Übergang, an dem sich der Mensch begann immer mehr und mehr von der Natur zu distanzieren? Und wenn ja, warum? Um diese Thematik zu beantworten, werden ausgewählte Literatur aber auch separiert angeführte, Überlegungen und Beobachtungen einbezogen. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit werden das Augenmerk auf Fachliteratur und der Sammlung einiger ausgewählter Mythen, mythologischen Gestalten und Gott-Mensch-Tier Beziehungen, wie etwa Athena und die mit ihrer Weisheit assoziierte Eule liegen, um anschließend im zweiten Teil der Arbeit diese mit Überlegungen fortzusetzen.
