New Directions in Third Wave Human-Computer Interaction: Volume 1 - Technologies available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. As the first extensive exploration of contemporary third wave HCI, this handbook covers key developments at the leading edge of human-computer interactions. Now in its second decade as a major current of HCI research, the third wave integrates insights from the humanities and social sciences to emphasize human dimensions beyond workplace efficiency or cognitive capacities. The earliest HCI work was strongly based on the concept of human-machine coupling, which expanded to workplace collaboration as computers came into mainstream professional use. Today HCI can connect to almost any human experience because there are new applications for every aspect of daily life. Volume 1 - Technologies covers technical application areas related to artificial intelligence, metacreation, machine learning, perceptual computing, 3D printing, critical making, physical computing, the internet of things, accessibility, sonification, natural language processing, multimodal display, and virtual reality.

Database Schema Evolution and Meta-Modeling available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The Ninth International Workshop on Foundations of Models and Languages for Data and Objects (FoMLaDO) took place in Dagstuhl Germany, Sept- ber 18{21, 2000. The topic of this workshop was Database schema Evolution and Meta-Modeling; this FoMLaDO Workshop was hence assigned the acronym DEMM 2000. These post-proceedings contain the revised versions of the accepted papers of the DEMM 2000 workshop. Twelve regular papers were accepted for inclusion in the proceedings. The papers address the following issues: { Consistency of evolving concurrent information systems { Adaptive speci cations of technical information systems { Change propagation in schema evolution of object-based systems { Evolving software of a schema evolution system { Logical characterization of schema evolution { Con?ict management in integrated databases { Evolving relation schemas { Conceptual descriptions of adaptive information systems { OQL-extensions for metadata access { Metamodeling of schema evolution { Metrics for conceptual schema evolution { Incremental datawarehouse construction In addition to the regular papers, there is an invited paper by Can Turk ̈ er on schema evolution in SQL99 and (object-)relational databases. Acknowledgements: We wish to thank the program committee members for their work on reviewing the submitted papers. We also wish to thank all a- hors for submitting papers to this workshop. Moreover, all participants of the workshop are thanked for contributing to lively discussions. Thanks also to Elke Rundensteiner, who delivered an invited talk on the SERF-project concerning ?exible database transformations.

Download and read online ebook System Design Modeling and Metamodeling write by John P. van Gigch. This book was released on 2013-06-29. System Design Modeling and Metamodeling available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book is a venture in the worlds of modeling and of metamodeling. At this point, I will not reveal to readers what constitutes metamodeling. Suf fice it to say that the pitfalls and shortcomings of modeling can be cured only if we resort to a higher level of inquiry called metainquiry and metadesign. We reach this level by the process of abstraction. The book contains five chapters from my previous work, Applied General Systems Theory (Harper and Row, London and New York, First Edition 1974, Second Edition 1978). More than ten years after its publication, this material still appears relevant to the main thrust of system design. This book is dedicated to all those who are involved in changing the world for the better. In a way we all are involved in system design: from the city manager who struggles with the problems of mass transportation or the consolidation of a city and its suburbs to the social worker who tries to provide benefits to the urban poor. It includes the engineer who designs the shuttle rockets. It involves the politician engaged in drafting a bill to recycle containers, or one to prevent pesticide contamination of our food. The politician might even need system design to chart his or her own re-election campaign.

Download and read online ebook The Language of Creative AI write by Craig Vear. This book was released on 2022-11-05. The Language of Creative AI available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Creative AI defines art and media practices that have AI embedded into the process of creation, but also encompass novel AI approaches in the realisation and experience of such work, e.g. robotic art, distributed AI artworks across locations, AI performers, artificial musicians, synthetic images generated by neural networks, AI authors and journalist bots. This book builds on the discourse of AI and creativity and extends the notion of embedded and co-operative creativity with intelligent software. It does so through a human-centred approach in which AI is empowered to make the human experience more creative. It presents ways-of-thinking and doing by the creators themselves so as to add to the ongoing discussion of AI and creativity at a time when the field needs to expand its thinking. This will avoid over-academization of this emerging field, and help counter engrained prejudice and bias. The Language of Creative AI contains technical descriptions, theoretical frameworks, philosophical concepts and practice-based case studies. It is a compendium of thinking around creative AI for technologists, human-computer interaction researchers and artists who are wishing to explore the creative potential of AI.
