This book was released on 2008. Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Microscopic Hydrodynamics of Nanoscale Liquid Structures available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In this thesis, issues pertaining to the dynamics of nanoscale liquid systems, such as nanojets and nanobridges, in vacuum as well as in ambient gaseous conditions, are explored using both extensive molecular dynamics simulations and theoretical analyses. The simulation results serve as ``theoretical experimental data' (together with laboratory experiments when available) for the formulation, implementation, and testing of modified hydrodynamic formulations, including stochastic hydrodynamics. These investigations aim at extending hydrodynamic formulations to the nanoscale regime. In particular, the instability, and breakup of liquid nanobridges and nanojets are addressed in details. As an application of the microscopic hydrodynamics, a heated-nozzle technique to generate and control nanojets is proposed. Both simulations and microscopic hydrodynamic modeling reveal the formation of a ``virtual convergent nozzle', which consists of a narrowing convergent liquid core within a growing evaporative sheath, by the nanojet itself inside the real nozzle. The diameter of the resulting ejected nanojet is much smaller than the diameter of the nozzle. By adjusting the temperature distribution of the real nozzle, the size and shape of the virtual nozzle are changed, which in turn changes the diameter and the direction of the ejected nanojet.

Nanoscale Hydrodynamics of Simple Systems available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Written for graduate students and researchers, Nanoscale Hydrodynamics of Simple Systems covers fundamental aspects of nanoscale hydrodynamics and extends this basis to examples. Covering classical, generalised and extended hydrodynamic theories, the title also discusses their limitations. It introduces the reader to nanoscale fluid phenomena and explores how fluid dynamics on this extreme length scale can be understood using hydrodynamic theory and detailed atomistic simulations. It also comes with additional resources including a series of explanatory videos on the installation of the code package, as well as discussion, analysis and visualisations of simulations. This title primarily focusses on training the reader to identify when classical theory breaks down, how to extend and generalise the theory, as well as assimilate how simulations and theory together can be used to gain fundamental knowledge about the fluid dynamics of small-scale systems.

Microscopic Structure and Dynamics of Liquids available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. What did we have in mind when in May, 1976, we (Professor de Gennes, Dr. Tourand and ourselves) thought of a Summer School in the field of liquids? First, we wanted to present and discuss the new results that have been obtained recently, in particular at the high flux reactor of the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble since it became operational in 1972. In order to achieve this goal, the major part of this Summer School was devoted to an ex tensive presentation of the gen~ra1 concepts and methods of study ing this state of matter (time-dependent correlation functions, molecular dynamics, intermolecular forces, spectroscopic tech niques ••• ) and concentrated on a few specific systems which have seen significant development in the last few years, both theoret ically and experimentally. These systems are the different classes of simple liquids: metallic liquids, ionic liquids, simple molecu lar liquids and the new field of superionic conductors (solid electrolytes). Furthermore, we wanted to put some emphasis on a particular research area in the field of liquids, namely critical phenomena in fluids. This was chosen both because of our personal interest in this field and the major theoretical advances which have occurred in the last ten years. We also wished that some new powerful techniques or new theo retical approaches be presented at this School. Thus, picosecond laser techniques, theoretical calculations on dipolar fluids, and angular correlations in molecular liquids were the subject of specific seminars.

Microscopic Simulations of Complex Hydrodynamic Phenomena available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This volume contains the proceedings of a NATO Advanced Study Institute which was held in Alghero, Sardinia, in July 1991. The development of computers in the recent years has lead to the emergence of unconventional ideas aiming at solving old problems. Among these, the possibility of computing directly fluid flows from the trajectories of constituent particles has been much exploited in the last few years: lattice gases cellular automata and more generally Molecular Dynamics have been used to reproduce and study complex flows. Whether or not these methods may someday compete with more traditional approaches is a question which cannot be answered at the present time: it will depend on the new computer architectures as well as on the possibility to develop very simple models to reproduce the most complex phenomena taking place in the approach of fully developed turbulence or plastic flows. In any event, these molecular methods are already used, and sometimes in an applied engineering context, to study strong shock waves, chemistry induced shocks or motion of dislocations in plastic flows, that is in domains where a fully continuum description appears insufficient. The main topic of our Institute was the molecular simulations of fluid flows. The project to hold this Institute was made three years ago, in the summer of 1989 during a NATO workshop in Brussels on the same subject.

Download and read online ebook Molecular Dynamics write by Lichang Wang. This book was released on 2012-04-05. Molecular Dynamics available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Molecular Dynamics is a two-volume compendium of the ever-growing applications of molecular dynamics simulations to solve a wider range of scientific and engineering challenges. The contents illustrate the rapid progress on molecular dynamics simulations in many fields of science and technology, such as nanotechnology, energy research, and biology, due to the advances of new dynamics theories and the extraordinary power of today's computers. This first book begins with a general description of underlying theories of molecular dynamics simulations and provides extensive coverage of molecular dynamics simulations in nanotechnology and energy. Coverage of this book includes: Recent advances of molecular dynamics theory Formation and evolution of nanoparticles of up to 106 atoms Diffusion and dissociation of gas and liquid molecules on silicon, metal, or metal organic frameworks Conductivity of ionic species in solid oxides Ion solvation in liquid mixtures Nuclear structures
