Multi-access Edge Computing: Software Development at the Network Edge available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The textbook covers the main aspects of Edge Computing, from a thorough look at the technology to the standards and industry associations working in the field. The book is conceived as a textbook for graduate students but also functions as a working guide for developers, engineers, and researchers. The book aims not only at providing a comprehensive technology and standard reference overview for students, but also useful research insights and practical exercises for edge software developers and investigators in the area (and for students looking to apply their skills). A particular emphasis is given Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) as defined in European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), in relationship with other standard organizations like 3GPP, thus in alignment with the recent industry efforts to produce harmonized standards for edge computing leveraging both ETSI ISG MEC and 3GPP specifications. Practical examples of Edge Computing implementation from industry groups, associations, companies and edge developers, complete the book and make it useful for students entering the field. The book includes exercises, examples, and quizzes throughout.

Download and read online ebook Multi-Access Edge Computing in Action write by Dario Sabella. This book was released on 2019-09-20. Multi-Access Edge Computing in Action available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book provides a complete and strategic overview of Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC). It covers network and technology aspects, describes the market scenarios from the different stakeholders’ point of view, and analyzes deployment aspects and actions to engage the ecosystem. MEC exists in and supports a highly complex "5G world" in which technologists and non-technology decision makers must act in concert and do so within a large interconnected ecosystem of which MEC is just one, albeit an important, part. Divided into three sections, with several chapters in each, the book addresses these three key aspects: technology, markets, and ecosystems.

Download and read online ebook Internet of Things – The Call of the Edge write by Ovidiu Vermesan. This book was released on 2022-09-01. Internet of Things – The Call of the Edge available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book provides an overview of the Internet of Things (IoT) – covering new ideas, concepts, research and innovation to enable the development of IoT technologies in a global context. The work is intended as a standalone book in a series covering the activities of the Internet of Things European Research Cluster (IERC) – including research, technological innovation, validation, and deployment. The book chapters build on the developments and innovative ideas put forward by the IERC, the IoT European Large-Scale Pilots Programme and the IoT European Security and Privacy Projects – presenting new concepts, ideas and future IoT trends and ways of integrating open data frameworks and IoT marketplaces into larger deployment ecosystems. The IoT and Industrial Internet of Things technologies are moving towards hyperautomated solutions – combining hyperconnectivity, artificial intelligence (AI), distributed ledger technologies and virtual/augmented extended reality, with edge computing and deep edge processing becoming an assertive factor across industries for implementing intelligent distributed computing resources and data to keep the efficient data exchange and processing local to reduce latency, exploit the sensing/actuating capabilities and enable greater autonomy. Expanding the adoption of consumer, business, industrial and tactile IoT requires further development of hyperautomated IoT concepts for collaborative solutions involving machines and humans to expand augmented creativity at the application level using AI to optimise the industrial processes and progress towards a symbiotic economy based on distributed federated cloud/edge infrastructure allowing resource sharing in the form of computing, memory and analytics capabilities. The advances of autonomous IoT applications delivering services in real-time encompasses development in servitisation, robotisation, automation and hyperconnectivity, which are essential for the rapid evolution of industrial enterprises in the new digital era. The rise of digital twins integrated into IoT platforms as fully interactive elements embedded into the simulation and optimisation environment, as well as the embedment of AI techniques and methods, enhances the accuracy and performance of models in the various IoT and Industrial Internet of Things applications. The convergence of technologies to provide scalable, interoperable IoT-enabled applications pushed the requirements for high bandwidth, low latency and robust and dependable connectivity to support the industry’s demand for deeper integration and improved analytics to deliver sustainable competitive advantage products and services, enabling digital transformation with a focus on new business models.Safety and security are interlinked for the next wave of IoT technologies and applications and combined, prove a greater value for rapid adoption. The new IoT technologies are essential for facilitating sustainable development, reducing energy consumption and, by supporting the optimisation of products and processes, mitigating unnecessary carbon emissions – thereby reducing the environmental impact through real-time data collection, analysis, exchange, and processing.

Urban Informatics - read free eBook in online reader or directly download on the web page. Select files or add your book in reader. Download and read online ebook Urban Informatics write by Wenzhong Shi. This book was released on 2021-04-06. Urban Informatics available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This open access book is the first to systematically introduce the principles of urban informatics and its application to every aspect of the city that involves its functioning, control, management, and future planning. It introduces new models and tools being developed to understand and implement these technologies that enable cities to function more efficiently – to become ‘smart’ and ‘sustainable’. The smart city has quickly emerged as computers have become ever smaller to the point where they can be embedded into the very fabric of the city, as well as being central to new ways in which the population can communicate and act. When cities are wired in this way, they have the potential to become sentient and responsive, generating massive streams of ‘big’ data in real time as well as providing immense opportunities for extracting new forms of urban data through crowdsourcing. This book offers a comprehensive review of the methods that form the core of urban informatics from various kinds of urban remote sensing to new approaches to machine learning and statistical modelling. It provides a detailed technical introduction to the wide array of tools information scientists need to develop the key urban analytics that are fundamental to learning about the smart city, and it outlines ways in which these tools can be used to inform design and policy so that cities can become more efficient with a greater concern for environment and equity.
