Provides a broad overview of advanced multidimensional imaging systems with contributions from leading researchers in the field Multi-dimensional Imaging takes the reader from the introductory concepts through to the latest applications of these techniques. Split into 3 parts covering 3D image capture, processing, visualization and display, using 1) a Multi-View Approach and 2.) a Holographic Approach, followed by a 3rd part addressing other 3D systems approaches, applications and signal processing for advanced 3D imaging. This book describes recent developments, as well as the prospects and challenges in advances in imaging sciences and engineering such as 3D image sensing, 3D holographic imaging, imaging applications for bio-photonics and 3D image recognition. Advanced imaging systems incorporate knowledge from various fields. It is a complex technology that combines physics, optics, signal processing, and image capture techniques. Provides a broad overview of advanced multidimensional imaging systems with contributions from leading researchers in the field. Integrates the background, introductory material with new advances in 3D imaging and applications. Covers the most recent technologies such as high speed digital holography, compressive sensing, real-time 3D integral imaging, 3D TV, photon counting imaging. To be available as an enhanced ebook with added functionality of colour films showing the effects of advanced 3D applications such as 3D microscopy, 3D biomedical imaging and 3D for security and defense applications. Acts as a single source reference to the rapidly developing field of 3D imaging technology. Provides supplementary material on a companion website including video clips, examples, numerical simulations, and experimental results to show the theoretical concepts. With contributions from leading researchers from across these fields, Multi-dimensional Imaging is a comprehensive reference for the imaging technology research community.

Telecommunication by radio shrank the world to a global village, and the satellite and computer have made imagery the language of that village. The creation of images was once mainly in the hands of artists and scribes. Two-dimensional images also occur naturally: a shadow, the dappled light pattern under a tree, the optical image on a retina. Nature provided the motif for much abstract ornamentation, and our written letters and ideograms trace back to representations of nature.

Download and read online ebook Statistical Image Processing and Multidimensional Modeling write by Paul Fieguth. This book was released on 2010-10-17. Statistical Image Processing and Multidimensional Modeling available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Images are all around us! The proliferation of low-cost, high-quality imaging devices has led to an explosion in acquired images. When these images are acquired from a microscope, telescope, satellite, or medical imaging device, there is a statistical image processing task: the inference of something—an artery, a road, a DNA marker, an oil spill—from imagery, possibly noisy, blurry, or incomplete. A great many textbooks have been written on image processing. However this book does not so much focus on images, per se, but rather on spatial data sets, with one or more measurements taken over a two or higher dimensional space, and to which standard image-processing algorithms may not apply. There are many important data analysis methods developed in this text for such statistical image problems. Examples abound throughout remote sensing (satellite data mapping, data assimilation, climate-change studies, land use), medical imaging (organ segmentation, anomaly detection), computer vision (image classification, segmentation), and other 2D/3D problems (biological imaging, porous media). The goal, then, of this text is to address methods for solving multidimensional statistical problems. The text strikes a balance between mathematics and theory on the one hand, versus applications and algorithms on the other, by deliberately developing the basic theory (Part I), the mathematical modeling (Part II), and the algorithmic and numerical methods (Part III) of solving a given problem. The particular emphases of the book include inverse problems, multidimensional modeling, random fields, and hierarchical methods.

Download and read online ebook Mathematics of Multidimensional Seismic Imaging, Migration, and Inversion write by N. Bleistein. This book was released on 2000-12-15. Mathematics of Multidimensional Seismic Imaging, Migration, and Inversion available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. For more than 80 years, the oil and gas industry has used seismic methods to construct images and determine physical characteristics of rocks that can yield information about oil and gas bearing structures in the earth. This book presents the different seismic data processing methods, also known as seismic "migration," in a unified mathematical way. The book serves as a bridge between the applied math and geophysics communities by presenting geophysicists with a practical introduction to advanced engineering mathematics, while presenting mathematicians with a window into the world of the mathematically sophisticated geophysicist.
