NMR: Principles and Applications to Biomedical Research available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is having an enormous liTIpact on biomedical research both at the basic science and clinical levels. In order to appreciate the elegance and power of this technology a historical perspective is in order. In 1924 Pauli suggested that hydrogen nuclei might possess a magnetic IIlOlllent. This was in fact confinned by Rabbi in 1939 who demonstrated that a beam of hydrogen molecules in the presence of a magnetic field could be mutated by radio frequency fields resonating at the Iarmor frequency. 'Ihe first successful NMR experiments in condensed matter were independently conducted in late 1945 by Purcell, Torrey and PoUnd and by Bloch, Hansen and Packard. 'Ihe Purcell group detected proton NMR in solid paraffin and the Bloch group detected proton in liquid water. Bloch and Purcell received the Nobel Prize in physics in 1952 for these observations . Until about 1952, studies of liquids and solids with broad resonance lines dominated the field of NMR. However, the reports of 3 1 P NMR chemical shifts in several corrpounds in 1949 by Khight, of 14 N resonances in several ions by Proctor and Yu in 1950, and of 1 9 F resonances in several corrpounds in 1950 by Dickinson led to the development of high resolution NMR in Itquids. since the molecular motions in liquids result in very narrow lines compared to those in solids, :much smaller chemical shifts could be detected.

Download and read online ebook NMR Spectroscopy and its Application to Biomedical Research write by S.K. Sarkar. This book was released on 1996-12-04. NMR Spectroscopy and its Application to Biomedical Research available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. NMR has become the most diverse spectroscopic tool available to date in biomedical research. It is now routinely used to study biomolecular structure and dynamics particularly as a result of recent developments of a cascade of highly sophisticated multidimensional NMR pulse sequences, and of advances in genetic engineering to produce biomolecules, uniformly or selectively enriched with 13C, 15N and 2H. Features of this book: • Provides an up-to-date treatment of NMR techniques and their application to problems of biomedical interest • Most refined multidimensional pulse sequences including the basic aspects are covered by leading NMR spectroscopists. The book will be useful to NMR spectroscopists, biochemists, and to molecular biologists interested in the use of NMR techniques for solving biological problems.

Download and read online ebook Structural Biology write by Quincy Teng. This book was released on 2012-09-06. Structural Biology available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This 2nd edition begins with an overview of NMR development and applications in biological systems. It describes recent developments in instrument hardware and methodology. Chapters highlight the scope and limitation of NMR methods. While detailed math and quantum mechanics dealing with NMR theory have been addressed in several well-known NMR volumes, chapter two of this volume illustrates the fundamental principles and concepts of NMR spectroscopy in a more descriptive manner. Topics such as instrument setup, data acquisition, and data processing using a variety of offline software are discussed. Chapters further discuss several routine stategies for preparing samples, especially for macromolecules and complexes. The target market for such a volume includes researchers in the field of biochemistry, chemistry, structural biology and biophysics.

Solid-State NMR in Materials Science - read free eBook in online reader or directly download on the web page. Select files or add your book in reader. Download and read online ebook Solid-State NMR in Materials Science write by Vladimir I. Bakhmutov. This book was released on 2011-12-19. Solid-State NMR in Materials Science available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Solid-state NMR is a powerful physical method widely applied in modern fundamental and applied science, medicine, and industry. Its role is particularly valuable in materials chemistry due to the capability of solid-state NMR to rapidly solve tasks connected with structural descriptions of complex systems on macro and/or molecular levels, and the identification of the dynamics often responsible for complex systems mechanical properties. Written for non-specialists, Solid-State NMR in Materials Science: Principles and Applications introduces the general physical principles of pulsed NMR, by including elements of the theory and practice in the registration of NMR signals, and by explaining different NMR equipment. After the preliminaries, the book covers: The theory and features of solid-state NMR and nuclear relaxation in solids, including dynamics of materials Different materials, diamagnetic and paramagnetic, from metals and metal clusters to amorphous composites The methodology of collection and interpretations of solid-state NMR data, including strategies and criteria for structural characterizations of different materials Practical examples of multinuclear NMR and relaxation experiments as well as interpretations of data obtained Numerous solid-state NMR experiments performed for various materials to evaluate their structure and dynamics Written in clear and simple language, this book includes clear illustrations, numerous examples, and detailed bibliographies. It an excellent reference not only for young and experienced researchers, but also for students interested in a future in materials science.
