Neben Darstellungen zur Philosophie in Schweden, Finnland und Estland aus der Perspektive der Ideen und Wissenschaftsgeschichte widmen sich die Beitrage des Bandes der kritischen Reflexion gegenwartiger Umorientierungen und Transformationen der Philosophie in Russland, in Lettland, Litauen, Polen und in Danemark. In Nordeuropa kann man in den letzten beiden Jahrzehnten eine verstarkte Auseinandersetzung mit der "kontinentalen" Philosophie beobachten.
