Recent Progress in Many-body Theories available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Quantum many-body theory has greatly expanded its scope and depth over the past few years, treating more deeply long-standing issues like phase transitions and strongly-correlated systems, and simultaneously expanding into new areas such as cold atom physics and quantum information. This collection of contributions highlights recent advances in all these areas by leaders in their respective fields. Also included are some historic perspectives by L P Gor'kov and S T Belyaev, Feenberg Medal Recipients at this conference, and Nobel Laureate P W Anderson gives his unique outlook on the future of physics. The volume covers the key topics in many-body theory, tied together through advances in theoretical tools and computational techniques, and a unifying theme of fundamental approaches to quantum many-body physics. Contents: Feenberg Medal Session: Surface and Superconductivity (L P Gor'kov); The Future Lies Ahead (P W Anderson); Strongly Correlated Systems and Phase Transitions: Quantum Matters: Physics Beyond Landau's Paradigms (T Senthil); Recent Applications of the DMRG Method (K Hallberg); Quantum Fluids and Solids: Monolayer Charged Quantum Films: A Quantum Simulation Study (K Wierschem & E Manousakis); Analysis of the Interatomic Potential of the Helium Systems (S Ujevic & S A Vitiello); Nuclear Physics and QCD: Quantum Phase Transitions in Mesoscopic Systems (F Iachello); New Approaches to Strong Coupling Lattice QCD (S Chandrasekharan); Cold Atoms and Quantum Information: Superfluid Regimes in Degenerate Atomic Fermi Gases (G V Shlyapnikov); Bosons in Optical Lattices (S L Rolston); Complex Systems: Spin Textures and Random Fields in Dirty Quantum Hall Ferromagnets (J T Chalker); Dissipative Quantum Disordered Models (L F Cugliandolo); and other papers. Readership: Theoretical physicists in condensed matter, nuclear physics and QCD, atomic physics and quantum information.

Few-Body Problems in Particle, Nuclear, Atomic, and Molecular Physics available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The 1987 Fontevraud Conference gathered more than 100 physicists for the purpose of discussing the latest developments of research on few-body problems. In addition to participants from most European countries representatives from Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, South Africa, and the USA took part in the meeting. In the conference program special emphasis was laid on bringing together the various fields, where few-body problems play an important role. Beyond the traditional areas of nuclear and particle physics, in recent years interest has been focussed especially on atomic and molecular physics. This developent is due to the design of new techniques for solving few-body problems under rather general premises. The proceedings contain all plenary talks and the contributions presented orally at the conference. They cover such topics as: few-quark systems and short-range phenomena, two- and three-body forces in quark as well as nucleonic systems, few-hadron bound states, response of few-body systems to electromagnetic and hadronic probes, form factors, hypernuclei, atomic and molecular few-body systems, hyperspherical method, separable expansions, numerical techniques, etc. It appears that recently, even in one year after the Tokyo-Sendai Conference, much progress has been achieved in research on various few-body systems. The present volume gives a comprehensive summary of the modern state of the art and at the same time a proper account of the most recent results obtained in the different institutions and laboratories.

Few Body Dynamics, Efimov Effect and Halo Nuclei available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book presents an overview of the different few-body techniques developed in nuclear physics and their applications to explore the structural properties of neutron-rich unstable nuclei, the so-called halo nuclei. Formal theory of two- and three-body scattering are discussed in a compact and abridged form to initiate the beginners who want to investigate the problems of halo nuclei within the framework of three-body models. Readers gain in-depth knowledge about the methods involved to solve the two- and three-body scattering problem and a special focus is put on the Faddeev approach. In this sense, the authors address both the graduate students and senior researchers. Subsequently, a detailed analysis of the Efimov effect in three-body systems is presented and the search for the effect in atomic nuclei, both Borromean and non-Borromean is addressed. The book also presents a detailed account of how to analyze, within the framework of a 3-body approach and using realistic short range forces, the structural properties of halo nuclei. Finally, the authors discuss the recent progress in effective field theory by setting up the integral equations for 3-body scattering and applying it to study low energy scattering of neutrons off halo nuclear targets.

Download and read online ebook Recent Progress in Many-Body Theories write by Y. Avishai. This book was released on 2012-12-06. Recent Progress in Many-Body Theories available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The present volume contains the texts of the invited talks delivered at the Sixth International Conference on Recent Progress in Many-Body Theories held in Arad, Israel during the period November 5-10 1989. The host institute was the Physics Department at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev. Beside the invited talks there have been also two poster sessions. The general format and style of the meeting followed closely those which had preceded it and evolved from the earlier conferences in the series: Trieste 1978, Oxtapec 1981, Altenberg 1983, San Francisco 1985 and Oulu 1987. The conferences in this series are intended to cover the broad spectrum of modem physics related to the many body problem. It starts on the smallest length scales in dealing with quark gluon plasmas and ends on the largest length scales in tackling many body problems in astrophysics. In between, it is concerned with nuclear physics, solid state physics, statistical mechanics, field theory, molecular dynamics, hydrodynamics, chaos, etc. Like in the Oulu conference, special emphasis has been put on recent developments in high Tc superconductivity. Beside the half day session devoted to it we have also organized an evening round table discussion on the future of the whole subject. Furthermore, a new, and in the opinion of the editor a very refreshing element which was absent in earlier conferences was the presentation of a few talks by experimentalists.
