Thornton. This book was released on 1992. Science and Practice of Liquid-liquid Extraction: Phase equilibria, mass transfer and interfacial phenomena, extractor hydrodynamics, selection, and design available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This work presents an up-to-date account of some of the fundamental aspects of liquid-liquid extraction technology together with an account of extraction processes in a number of important industries. The work is divided into two parts. Volume 1 is concerned with the thermodynamics of phase equilibria; mass transfer in liquid-liquid systems, including the complicating role of interfacial turbulence; behavior of liquid-liquid dispersions; and the selection and design of countercurrent contactors for particular applications. Volume 2 gives an account of the process chemistry and associated extraction operations in a number of industries of current interest. New extraction techniques have been developed in recent years for specific applications and these are illustrated with reference to the hydrometallurgical, nuclear, pharmaceutical and food industries.

Recent Advances in Liquid-Liquid Extraction - read free eBook in online reader or directly download on the web page. Select files or add your book in reader. Download and read online ebook Recent Advances in Liquid-Liquid Extraction write by C. Hanson. This book was released on 2013-10-22. Recent Advances in Liquid-Liquid Extraction available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Recent Advances in Liquid-liquid Extraction focuses on the applications of liquid extraction. The selection first discusses solvent extraction. Concerns include organic and inorganic separations, mass transfer process, solvent extraction economics, and coalescence in liquid-liquid systems. The book focuses on the chemistry of solvent extraction. Extraction by acidic organophosphorus compounds; extraction by phosphorus-bonded oxygen-donor solvents; extraction by high-molecular weight amines; and synergistic extraction are elaborated. The book also focuses on industrial organic processes; industrial contacting equipment; response characteristics and control of extraction processes; and calculation of contactors with longitudinal mixing. The selection presents the study of longitudinal mixing in liquid-liquid contactors. Rotating disc contactors, packed columns, vibrating plate extractors, and Oldshue-Rushton columns are described. The text also discusses heat transfer by direct liquid-liquid contact and the coalescence of liquid droplets and liquid dispersion. The selection is a vital source of data for readers interested in liquid extraction.

Reactive Extraction - read free eBook in online reader or directly download on the web page. Select files or add your book in reader. Download and read online ebook Reactive Extraction write by Hans-Jörg Bart. This book was released on 2013-04-17. Reactive Extraction available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This booklet is designed to bridge the gap between handbooks and technical literature and aims at graduate students or experienced readers. Commercial flow sheeting simulation software is increasingly available and is used in the early steps of process design in industry. As to this, more sophisticated and precise models based on activities instead of concentrations should be used. After an introductory chapter there is in Chapter 2 an intensive discussion of reactive phase equilibria of ionic and non-ionic solutes based on chemical potentials. Chapter 3 introduces to multicomponent diffusion and mass transfer. However, the main focus is on the reactive mass transfer on rigid and mobile surfaces where the interfacial reaction, molecular diffusion and adsorption layers are decisive. The respective extraction of zinc with a cation exchanger and of acetic acid with an anion exchanger is discussed as case studies. Since adsorption layers and surfactants have a major impact on liquid-liquid extraction efficiency, the final chapter reviews several tech niques which make use of polymeric species in an extractive process. A short review is also given on extraction apparatus and the hydrodynamics (hydraulic design, droplet populance balances) of columns. Much of the booklet is based on the PhD works of C. Czapla (2000), G. Modes (2000), H. Klocker (1996), T. Kronberger (1995), M. Marters (2000), M. Roos (2000), M. Traving (2000) and B. Wachter (1996) who I wish to thank for their fruitful contributions.

Industrial Chemical Separation - read free eBook in online reader or directly download on the web page. Select files or add your book in reader. Download and read online ebook Industrial Chemical Separation write by Timothy C. Frank. This book was released on 2023-08-07. Industrial Chemical Separation available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. A fresh new treatment written by industry insiders, this work gives readers a remarkably clear view into the world of chemical separation. The authors review distillation, extraction, adsorption, crystallization, and the use of membranes – providing historical perspective, explaining key features, and offering insights from personal experience. The book is for engineers and chemists with current or future responsibility for chemical separation on a commercial scale – in its design, operation, or improvement – or for anyone wanting to learn more about chemical separation from an industrial point of view. The result is a compelling survey of popular technologies and the profession, one that brings the art and craft of chemical separation to life. Ever wonder how popular separation technologies came about, how a particular process functions, or how mass transfer units differ from theoretical stages? Or perhaps you want some pointers on how to begin solving a separation problem. You will find clear explanations and valuable insights into these and other aspects of industrial practice in this refreshing new survey.
