To begin, a discussion ofthe systems approach to technology transfer is presented.Sevencharacteristics of the systems approach are identified: feedback, structure,requisite variety, interrelatedness, effectors, inputs, and holisticperspective.These characteristics are then discussed in light of otherdisciplines by providing historical examples of their applicability to thesedisciplines including the Tacoma Narrows bridge collapse, the genetics of thecheetah, and the linguistics of various languages.
