Challenges to religious liberty are increasingly common today as historical Christianity comes into conflict with a new, secular orthodoxy. In this thoroughly revised second edition of First Freedom, leading evangelical scholars present the biblical and historical foundations for religious freedom in America, and address pressing topics such as: * Religious freedom and the exclusivity of the gospel * The Christian doctrine of religious liberty * Religious liberty and the public square * Religious freedom and the sexual revolution * Baptist contributions to religious freedom, and much more. The contributors equip churches, pastors, and Christian citizens to uphold this “first freedom” given by God and defended by Christians throughout our nation’s history.

This book was released on 2005-11-01. Free People available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. AT ONCE AN INTRODUCTION TO GLOBAL ECONOMICS AND a Christian ethical examination of it, 'Free People' looks at one of the most pressing challenges facing followers of Jesus today. How does one love God and neighbor while enmeshed in a globalized economy, where our lives are networked with and impact the lives of people all around the world? Written in a highly readable style, this book defines global economics in terms a non-economist can appreciate, and describes how the global economy dominates people - from sweatshop workers in Bangladesh, to coffee farmers in Central America, to citizens of northern democracies. The second half of the book offers a fresh look at biblical insights on wealth and its usage, and at the New Testament concept of principalities and powers. Finally, 'Free People' suggests ways for Christians to live humanly in these times, by looking at the lives of specific people who - in simple, practical ways - resist the dehumanizing power of global economics.

Download and read online ebook Land and Lordship write by Otto Brunner. This book was released on 2015-07-28. Land and Lordship available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Otto Brunner contends that prevailing notions of medieval social and constitutional history had been shaped by the nineteenth-century nation state and its "liberal" order. Whereas a sharp distinction between the public and the private might be appropriate to descriptions of contemporary society, such a dichotomy could not be projected back onto the Middle Ages. Focusing particularly on forms of lordship in late medieval Austria, Brunner found neither a "state" in the modern sense nor any distinction between the public and private spheres. Behind the apparent disorder of late medieval political life, however, Brunner discovered a coherent legal and constitutional order rooted in the the rights and obligations of noble lordship. In carefully reconstructing this order, Brunner's study weaves together social, legal, constitutional, and intellectual history.
