Part love story, part travelogue, The Seven Senses of Italy follows American newlyweds Bobby and Lisa as they breathe in the sights, sounds, aromas, tastes, and textures of Italy. Unknowingly guided by Lisa’s late grandmother—her nonna—who exemplifies past generations’ intangible but indisputable gifts of intuition and common sense, the couple falls in love with the people, culture, food, and history of the vibrant peninsula. In the process they grow, change, and begin to imagine a new future. Joining Bobby and Lisa on their adventures and discoveries, readers will glide through Venice’s Grand Canal, ride a Vespa through the Umbrian countryside, hear the resonant peal of ancient church bells, sip espresso at sidewalk caffés, and lose themselves in museum masterpieces that transcend time and space. The Seven Senses of Italy is a must-read for the armchair traveler and romantic as well as those familiar with Italy or planning their first trip.

Download and read online ebook Oration on the Dignity of Man write by Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola. This book was released on 2012-03-27. Oration on the Dignity of Man available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. An ardent treatise for the Dignity of Man, which elevates Humanism to a truly Christian level. This translation of Pico della Mirandola's famed "Oration," hitherto hidden away in anthologies, was prepared especially for Gateway Editions, making it available for the first time in a stand-alone volume. The youngest son of the Prince of Mirandola, Pico lived during the Renaissance, an era of change and philosophical ferment. The tenacity with which he clung to fundamental Christian teachings while crying out against his brilliant though half-pagan contemporaries made him exceptional in a time of exceptional men. While Pico, as Russell Kirk observes in his introduction, was an ardent spokesman for the "dignity of man," his devout nature elevated humanism to a truly Christian level, which makes his writing as pertinent today as it was in the fifteenth century.

Download and read online ebook Multiword expressions write by Manfred Sailer . This book was released on 2018. Multiword expressions available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Multiword expressions (MWEs) are a challenge for both the natural language applications and the linguistic theory because they often defy the application of the machinery developed for free combinations where the default is that the meaning of an utterance can be predicted from its structure. There is a rich body of primarily descriptive work on MWEs for many European languages but comparative work is little. The volume brings together MWE experts to explore the benefits of a multilingual perspective on MWEs. The ten contributions in this volume look at MWEs in Bulgarian, English, French, German, Maori, Modern Greek, Romanian, Serbian, and Spanish. They discuss prominent issues in MWE research such as classification of MWEs, their formal grammatical modeling, and the description of individual MWE types from the point of view of different theoretical frameworks, such as Dependency Grammar, Generative Grammar, Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar, Lexical Functional Grammar, Lexicon Grammar.

Questa raccolta di poesie e di racconti popolari anonimi in dialetto molisano tracciano il percorso di due storie che, pur diversificate, si compenetrano e si completano a vicenda: la storia individuale dell' autore e la storia collettiva della società di un paese del Sud. Le immagini di un mondo apparentemente immobile e arcaico si alternano alle vicende di una realtà storica complessa e tormentata, nel cui magma vecchio e nuovo si scontrano e si fondono. This collection of poems and anonymous folktales in the Molisan dialect traces the unfolding of two stories which, although distinct, interweave and complete each other: the author's individual story and the story of a town in the South of Italy. The images of an apparently immobile and archaic world alternate with the events of a complex and tormented historical reality, in whose magma the new and the old clash and fuse.
