This book was released on 2017. Verification and Validation of Accelerated Testing Methods for Fatigue Life Assessment available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Fatigue-related durability and reliability performance is one of the most important concerns in many engineering applications, such as for ground vehicles, aircrafts, and power generation systems. Product designers, validation engineers, and manufacturers are under continuous and increasing pressure to reduce the "design cycle" and "time to market" of products while assuring high levels of durability and reliability of these products. To achieve these goals, a number of accelerated testing methods have been developed, with some of them being applied very successfully to engineering applications. Because the ability to assess the fatigue life of an engineering component or system from the accelerated testing results is of great importance, the verification and validation of the accelerated testing methods is becoming critical to properly interpret the predicted results and decision making. In today's highly regulated world, there are many regulations, guidelines, standards, and specifications for conducting accelerated testing, data analysis, and methods verification. However, methods are being continuously revised or enhanced by absorbing more advanced developments to address the fundamental issues or specific needs of a given application, or both. In this paper, two fundamental accelerated testing methods are reviewed and thoroughly investigated: (1) the test-to-failure method and (2) degradation testing. Several key issues are identified in this paper with emphasis on the verification and validation of several new concepts and methodologies. Case studies are provided to demonstrate the critical issues identified.

Download and read online ebook Fatigue Testing and Analysis of Results write by W. Weibull. This book was released on 2013-10-22. Fatigue Testing and Analysis of Results available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Fatigue Testing and Analysis of Results discusses fundamental concepts of fatigue testing and results analysis. The book begins with a description of the symbols and nomenclature selected for the present book, mainly those proposed by the ASTM Committee E-9 on Fatigue. Fatigue testing methods are then discussed including routine tests, short-life and long-life tests, cumulative-damage tests, and abbreviated and accelerated tests. Separate chapters cover fatigue testing machines and equipment; instruments and measuring devices; and test pieces used in fatigue testing. The factors affecting test results are considered, including material, types of stressing, test machine, environment, and testing technique. The final two chapters cover the planning of test programs and the presentation of results. Test program planning involves the statistical design of a test series; specification and sampling of test pieces; and choice of test pieces, testing machines, and test conditions. The chief purpose of most fatigue tests is the experimental determination of the relation between the endurance and the magnitude of the applied stress range for the material and the specimen under consideration, and final results can be condensed into a table, graph, or analytical expression.

Download and read online ebook Accelerated Testing and Validation write by Alex Porter. This book was released on 2004-07-01. Accelerated Testing and Validation available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Accelerated Testing and Validation Methods is a cross-disciplinary guide that describes testing and validation tools and techniques throughout the product development process. Alex Porter not only focuses on what information is needed but also on what tools can produce the information in a timely manner. From the information provided, engineers and managers can determine what data is needed from a test and validation program and then how to select the best, most effective methods for obtaining the data. This book integrates testing and validation methods with a business perspective so readers can understand when, where, and how such methods can be economically justified. Testing and validation is about generating key information at the correct time so that sound business and engineering decisions can be made. Rather than simply describing various testing and validation techniques, the author offers readers guidance on how to select the best tools for a particular need, explains the appropriateness of different techniques to various situations and shows how to deploy them to ensure the desired information is accurately gathered. - Emphasizes developing a strategy for testing and validation - Teaches how to design a testing and validation program that deliver information in a timely and cost-effective manner

Download and read online ebook Fatigue Testing and Analysis write by Yung-Li Lee. This book was released on 2011-04-18. Fatigue Testing and Analysis available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Fatigue Testing and Analysis: Theory and Practice presents the latest, proven techniques for fatigue data acquisition, data analysis, and test planning and practice. More specifically, it covers the most comprehensive methods to capture the component load, to characterize the scatter of product fatigue resistance and loading, to perform the fatigue damage assessment of a product, and to develop an accelerated life test plan for reliability target demonstration. This book is most useful for test and design engineers in the ground vehicle industry. Fatigue Testing and Analysis introduces the methods to account for variability of loads and statistical fatigue properties that are useful for further probabilistic fatigue analysis. The text incorporates and demonstrates approaches that account for randomness of loading and materials, and covers the applications and demonstrations of both linear and double-linear damage rules. The reader will benefit from summaries of load transducer designs and data acquisition techniques, applications of both linear and non-linear damage rules and methods, and techniques to determine the statistical fatigue properties for the nominal stress-life and the local strain-life methods. - Covers the useful techniques for component load measurement and data acquisition, fatigue properties determination, fatigue analysis, and accelerated life test criteria development, and, most importantly, test plans for reliability demonstrations - Written from a practical point of view, based on the authors' industrial and academic experience in automotive engineering design - Extensive practical examples are used to illustrate the main concepts in all chapters
